Problem: The client needed to switch from Traditional Chinese to Simplified Chinese for their multilingual site and encountered issues with disabled checkboxes for certain post types like 'company' and 'products' after adding a new language. They also faced problems with locked fields in the WPML Translation Editor and were concerned about preserving existing translations in French and German. Solution: 1. We advised the client to edit the page/post in the default language and activate the WPML Translation Editor by clicking on the "Pencil +" tab in the language side panel. 2. For the ACF fields, we recommended setting the translation preference to 'Same field across languages' to unlock the checkboxes. However, this change might cause the translation complete icon to switch to a needs update icon, which is expected. The client should check the translated content on the front end and if it appears correct, they can leave it as is. If updates are needed post-ACF change, the content should be sent for translation again to align with the default-language content. For further guidance on ACF field settings, refer to this documentation.
