[Resolved] Assistance Required for Translation Issue
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are trying to switch the language on your website in guest mode, but instead of displaying the page in the selected language, it redirects to a different domain. Solution: We recommend checking the settings in your Avada theme, as it includes a maintenance mode feature that might be causing the redirection. Here are the steps to adjust it: - Navigate to Avada -> Options. - Select German from the top-bar language options. - Open Maintenance Mode and adjust the settings as needed.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, please visit our known issues page and check if there's a permanent fix available for your version. Background of the issue:
I am trying to switch the language on the official website (hidden link) in guest mode, expecting the page to display in the corresponding language.
Symptoms:
After selecting a different language, the page unexpectedly jumps to hidden link instead of the expected language version of ponycycle.org.
Questions:
Why does the language switch redirect to a different domain?
How can I ensure the language switch leads to the correct page on ponycycle.org?
I noticed that when I switch to the Default theme instead of Avada, everything works fine. This suggests that some settings in the Avada theme might be causing the issue. Before I dive into troubleshooting, could you please update the Avada theme to the latest version?
Also, let me know if you’ve made any modifications to the theme.
We think we can't update Avada because we hired an expert to do the code for us. If we update Avada, the added code will be lost. And this problem existed before the expert added the code, so it's not a problem with the newly added code.
If you can't verify it in the Avada we are currently using, how about trying it in the Avada we are not using?
And we are confused that when switching languages, the page jumps to the shop page instead of other pages. This directional page should have been accidentally added at some point? Otherwise, how could it jump to the shop page?
The another Avada is just a child theme so it will not work.
In this case, the best possible way to debug this will be to replicate the site on my localhost and perform further debugging, is it okay, if I used duplicator plugin to create a backup of your site?
Avada includes a maintenance mode feature where you can configure redirections. Additionally, WPML allows you to set different options for each language, which affects the URLs.
To resolve this issue:
- Navigate to Avada -> Options.
- Select German from the top-bar language options.
- Open Maintenance Mode and adjust the settings as needed.
