This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where the first post is duplicated on the news page in additional languages, such as German, and is concerned that deleting the translations might result in losing the post in those languages.
Solution:
1. We asked the client if they had duplicated the post in other languages using the WPML feature. If so, we recommended going to the WordPress dashboard, navigating to Posts → All Posts, selecting the desired language, and trashing the duplicated post.
2. We inquired if the client was facing the same issue when using any default theme, which could help isolate the problem.
3. We provided a link to our documentation on how to duplicate posts and pages using the page editor: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#how-to-duplicate-posts-and-pages-using-the-page-editor
4. We also reminded the client to back up their database before making any changes.
