hreflang does not link back

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported that the hreflang attribute was not correctly indicating the availability of a Spanish version of an article on their English page, although the Spanish page correctly showed the English version. Additionally, the language switcher in the footer was missing the link to the Spanish article.
Solution:
The user cleared the cache on his site and this solved the problem.
