I am trying to: Activate WPML, and several WPML plugins on the DEV version of an existing PROD

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
hidden link
Expect results are at speedqueeninvestor.com where not depreciation errors are shown nor the home page slider broken.
Errors are turned on in the php.ini while developing the new site.
I expected to see:
Site working correctly with WPML activated
Instead, I got: With WPML, we get loads of depreciated warnings, and it breaks the home page slider

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

I just checked hidden link and hidden link, both seems identical. Perhaps you 've turned off the error reporting.

As far as I see, it appears that your server is currently running on PHP v8.2.x, which is relatively new and not yet fully compatible with WPML. However, I noticed that the errors you're encountering on your homepage are just warnings regarding deprecated functions in WPML that will require modification in the near future. Nevertheless, these functions are still operational at present.

To avoid showing those unwanted warnings and errors to your visitors, it's best to disable the debug mode in WordPress. This is actually a recommended practice, so you won't have to worry about anything.

Regards.

Hi Waqas,
thank you for the response.
WPML is not fully compatible with 8.2 you mean correct?
Debug mode in on only during development. Of course it will be off on the PROD version.
I think it is not normal that the homepage slider display breaks when the plugin is activated.
Can we export the translation from the PRO site, delete the current tbls in the DEV site, reinstall WPML and import that translations?

That would and should give us a clean install of WPML correct?

I see some translations are missing and or not displaying correctly.

Thanks

WPML should work with PHP 8.2 without any problems but of course these things are always evolving and we are trying our best to resolve accordingly.

Several of those deprecation notices have been resolved in upcoming 4.6.5 version of WPML, which is due release very soon (probably within this week). Meanwhile you can try 4.6.5-b.1 (beta version - https://wpml.org/download/wpml-multilingual-cms/?section=changelog).

I think it is not normal that the homepage slider display breaks when the plugin is activated.

This depends why it is happening, apparently from your screenshot looks like when an early output is sent (i.e. errors are thrown), visual presentation may break. This is common case with error reporting turned on.

To observe this in detail, may I ask for admin access to your website to check the issue in detail? You can create a separate admin user for this purpose, which can be deleted afterwards.

Remember to take full backup of your website and database before proceeding. However, a staging/test site is highly recommended, because I may need to try some changes/fixes on the site (including plugins & themes deactivation), which may cause conflicts with the live site otherwise.

Please confirm it in your next reply or let me know if you do not agree with the mentioned.

I've set your next reply as private to share this information safely.

IMPORTANT: If you don't see the section for providing access information, do not write in the message box or the information may appear as public.

See https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/ for details on privacy and security.

Other than the above, for exporting/importing translations and resetting WPML, I'll recommend checking the following guides, carefully:
- https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/
- https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/deleting-languages-and-plugin-data-by-doing-a-wpml-reset-on-your-site/

And 'll also advise to open a separate ticket if you need more help on this, because as per forum policy we can only handle one issue per ticket. So you can get more to the point help, without mixing up several issues in one long ticket.
