This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: How to cancel a translation request sent to a translation agency when using Trados, where projects can only be deleted or completed, not canceled. Solution: If you need to cancel a translation request in Trados, you can either delete or complete the project in Trados. After handling it in Trados, follow these steps in WPML: 1. Go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting and click on the option under "Reset professional translation state". 2. Identify the pages that are stuck. 3. Navigate to WPML → Translation Dashboard. 4. Resend the pages, and select "Translate myself". 5. Go to WPML → Translations Queue and complete the translations.

How can we cancel a translation request sent to a translation agency, if, for example, the translation is not needed anymore. I was told the agency should cancel it but in this case we (internal localisation dept works as an agency in this case) use Trados where you can't cancel a project - you can just delete or complete it...
While you’re waiting for my colleague to take over the ticket, I’ll try to help you resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Yes, the cancellation needs to be done from the agency side. Unfortunately, I’m not fully familiar with how Trados handles this specific case, but I suggest checking with them to see whether it’s possible to cancel that specific job instead of deleting the entire project.
As I can see in their docs, it should be possible:

Thanks for the details, but unfortunately, these instructions are for Tridion (RWS CMS solution) and Trados integration, where, in the integrator on the Tridion side, you can cancel the project. Trados itself allows only the option to complete or delete the project, which would both be fine from the Localization side of things, but none of those actions cancel the request on the WPML side, and the project stays "In Progress," so we are wondering how we can stop the request on the WPML side...
Ok, let's say we cancel. Is there any way to "stop the request on the WPML side" for tracking purposes? For example, we now have two pages that we mistakenly sent to a non-existent template in Trados, and they are still in the "loading" state. Is there any way to "cancel" those pages for better translation management, for example if we made a minimal change in that article and save it, would that reset the status of that page in WPML or should we go the "Reset professional translation state" route you mention in which case, what will happen, will all pages sent for translation be stopped?
With my colleague on a holiday for next week we can only fully test once back but I am fairly certain option 2 didn’t work. We will test asap once back…
So yes, that button is there, and all it does is tell us that none of them have been completed after it syncs. Also, all the jobs are still present in the Translation Jobs tab
To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.
So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. hidden link
Apologise, but due to the sensitive nature of our setup, allowing for admin access to wp-admin and more so ftp would be considered as too big a security risk. What we would normally arrange is a call where you could look at these settings through screen share by a third party that manages some of these flows (FTP in particular) - If you are ok with that, could you share 2-3 time slots that would work for you in the coming days and we can send an invite...
