[Resolved] Translation of media issues with my products
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are experiencing issues with inconsistent product image thumbnails across different language versions of your website. Despite setting Dutch as the main language, switching to other languages results in different thumbnails being displayed for the same products. Solution: We recommend checking the WPML > Settings > Media Translation section on your site. Ensure the following options are enabled: 1. Set language information for existing media (if clickable) 2. Translate existing media in all languages 3. Duplicate existing media for translated content 4. Duplicate the featured images for translated content After enabling these settings, click the 'Start' button to apply the changes. Additionally, for products that still show incorrect images after these adjustments, try updating the product in the main language and use the bulk update option to sync the changes across all translations without making further changes.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, please visit our known issues page, verify you have the latest versions of themes and plugins, and consider opening a new support ticket at our support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to maintain consistent product image thumbnails across different language versions of my website. My main language is Dutch, and I have four language options on my site. I was informed that if I don't change any media based on language, it should use the default media.
Symptoms:
When I switch languages on my website, the product image thumbnails change incorrectly. The images should remain the same across all language versions, but they do not. This issue affects multiple products.
Questions:
Why do the product image thumbnails change when I switch languages?
How can I ensure the same images are used across all language versions?
Here is the detailes screen record : hidden link
and again detailes thing:
so on my website i have 4 different language switch, dutch is my main language! from hidden link there which is on dutch lanugae , look at the first product image thumbnail . then if i change the languge then some other thumbnails is comes in ! which is not right becuase one of the support member said as soon as i didn't change any media based on language then it should use the media from default. so it should use the same image and also same amonunt of image i have uploaded for this product. this is not only this one product issue but i have lot of prouct like having this issue. if you visit the website in german or french version with the same category then you will laugh like most of the thing is immedietly change . i want to keep all version same thubmnail or image. i have made a detailes explanaiton loom video for you to understand better about the issue. here is the link: hidden link
Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.
I visit the translation product in the English language hidden link
and see that it is missing an image (the first one) so the image thumbnail is different on the product category page and its translation.
I suggest you go to WPML > Settings > Media Translation section > Enable options below and see if it helps.
- Set language information for existing media (if it is clickable)
- Translate existing media in all languages
- Duplicate existing media for translated content
- Duplicate the featured images for translated content
> Click on Start button.
hi ! Thank you so much for look !
i have did the way or stpes you was told but still issues are as it is. no luck is there. i have another loom video to show you nicely and describe nicely please have a look and please let me know how i can solve it ! thank you . Here is the loom video link :
After running options to duplicate images to all languages, the product in the English language has 6 images as in other languages. However, the order of the last image isn't correct.
I suggest you edit the product in the Dutch language > Click on Update to sync data across languages and see if it helps.
If it does not help, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site so I can take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
After updating the product in Dutch, the gallery images is correctly synced to the translation product in English. hidden link
For other products, I use the option to bulk update with no changes, see the attached screenshot. Now you can check the gallery images on all products and let me know how it goes.

The order of products on the category page isn't the same across languages, however, the gallery images of products are the same. You can edit a single product page and see how it goes.
For example:
Dutch: hidden link
English: hidden link
French: hidden link
German: hidden link
If it doesn't work on your end, can you please share some screenshots of the issue?
