This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where internal links set up in Elementor on buttons and images are not pointing to the correct translated pages after updating the original language and then updating the English version with the WPML advanced editor. The links still point to the default language pages instead of the translated ones.
Solution:
We recommend enabling the 'Adjust ID' option to ensure that internal links point to the correct translated pages. Please follow the steps outlined in our documentation to enable this feature:

Hello!

I am using Elementor to build pages.
I am trying to get internal links on buttons and images set up in Elementor as "internal link" to "content") to point to the correct language page that are translated. But after making any minor updates to the original language (LT) and then updating the English version with WPML advanced editor - then the internal links still point to the default language pages. But when the translation is updated with Classic Editor and thus Elementor, the links remain pointing to the translated pages correctly. Why do the links get overridden when updating with WPML advanced editor?

Under WPML -- Settings -- Translated document options -- Page URL
I have selected: Translate

I have disabled the caching plugin.
Also pressed the button "Translate Link Targets" and waited for the process to run.

I understand that the internal links should point to the correct translated pages automatically - but this is not the case. They point to the default language pages.

I have also done the following under WPML Troubleshooting page:
Synchronized post taxonomies
Cleared cache in WPML
Assigned translation status to duplicate content
Set language information

Still the issue persists.
