This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing a permissions error when trying to access the 'OTGS Installer' option and encounters an error when updating the WPML plugin, which causes the site to stop working.

Solution:
1. We recommend deleting the OTGS Installer since it's no longer necessary if WPML is already installed. Use the Plugins > Add New > Commercial tab to add extra plugins, or manually download them from our site and upload them via Plugins > Add New > Upload.

2. Check for compatibility issues by reviewing a similar ticket and following the steps provided there. Also, ensure that you are using the latest WPML version by comparing your current version with the latest one available.

3. Create a full website backup, update all plugins and the theme to the latest versions, and then disable all plugins except WPML.

4. If updating from the backend is not possible due to an old plugin version, manually update by first creating a full website backup, then deactivating and deleting the old plugin. Download the latest version from here and install and activate it manually.

Please note that the solution provided might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket in the WPML support forum.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
When I try to access the 'OTGS Installer' option, I get an alert that says 'Sorry, you don't have permission to access this page.

What is the link to your site?

Hi there.

Can you please let me know what you are trying to accomplish with the OTGS Installer?

I can see that you already have WPML installed so you should be fine by deleting the OTGS installer and just use the Plugins > Add new > Commercial area to add any extra plugins or you can also manually download them from our site (https://wpml.org/account/downloads) and manually upload them from Plugins > Add new > Upload.

I hope that you will find this information helpful. 🙂

Hi there and thank you for the update.

There's a chance that this is a compatibility-related issue.

Please take a look over this existing ticket (https://wpml.org/forums/topic/fatal-error-uncaught-error-call-to-a-member-function-get_requested_lang-on-null/) and try to follow the steps recommended by my colleague there and let's see if we can find what the issue is.

I was also able to see that you are using a very old WPML version (4.4.9) compared to our latest one: 4.6.9

So that issue might also happen due to this reason. Please create a full website backup and then update everything (all the plugins and the theme that you are using) to the latest version.

I will be waiting for your response.

Mihai

Hi there.

Did you update everything to the latest version?

I would update everything to the latest version and then disable all except WPML.

When the plugins version get too old, you might have issues updating straight from the backend.

I recommend that you first create a full website backup and then remove the plugin completely (deactivate and delete) > then manually download the latest version from here (https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ - select "Download WPML manually") > then install and activate the plugin.

You can remove the OTGS Installer, as you won't need it anymore.

This way (going with a manual update), we might get over this error.

Please let us know how things go.
