This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to enable a Shop Manager to send strings from the String Translation page for automatic translation, but currently, this option is only available to Administrators.
Solution:
First, you can set the Shop Manager as a translator or translator manager by navigating to WPML > Translation Management > Translator. For more details, visit WPML Admin Capabilities.
If that does not suffice, you will need to adjust their WPML capabilities to manage translation management, string translation, and translations. You can find more information on how to do this at WPML Capabilities Guide.
Additionally, consider enabling all related capabilities for WPML and translation, and selectively exclude only those you do not wish to allow, such as installing plugins.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum.

Background of the issue:
I'm trying to make it possible for a user to send strings from the String Translation page for automatic translation. Currently, this option is only available for Administrators. I have tried the beta version of WPML, where Strings can only be sent for automatic translation from Translation Management, which is also only available for Administrators.

Symptoms:
The option to send strings for automatic translation is restricted to Administrators.

Questions:
Is there any chance that I could grant a user with the role of Shop Manager the rights to use the automatic translations for Strings?

Hello,

you can try to set them as translator/translator manager from WPML > Translation Manager > Translator.

If not, then you will need to adjust their WPML capabilities to manage translation management, string translation, translations and etc:

- hidden link.

Hi, Drazen,

I tried both, how to set users as translators for all language combinations, so I enabled them all capabilities with wpml_ prefix using the plugin hidden link

Both had no effect.

Only adding as Translation Manager I couldn't try because the dialog to add Translation Manager doesn't work, the user can't be found. It doesn't work for me on production and not even on stagig where I have beta versions of WPML.

Ludek

Hello,

there are other capabilities like manage_translations, etc. Please enable all related to wpml and translation, and it should work fine.

If you are not sure, you can enable all capabilities and exclude only the one you wish not to allow for that role, like maybe install plugins.

Let me know how it goes.

Drazen

thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I think it was "manage_translations" that started it working.
