This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing a 404 error on the translated product page of your website, and the URL changes unexpectedly.
Solution:
We recommend updating your WPML plugin and add-ons to the latest version, 4.7.4, to access recent bug fixes and improvements. This update might not directly resolve your issue, but it is crucial for troubleshooting with the most current code. You can find the latest versions in the WPML Downloads section under 'My Account'. If updates are not visible, try clicking the 'Check for updates' button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab. Always ensure to backup your database before updating.

If updating does not resolve the issue, it might be due to reasons that are either outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at WPML Known Issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Please update your WPML plugin and add-ons to the latest version, 4.7.4, to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem; however, we need to work on the newest code available to troubleshoot the issue best.

You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site. Instructions to update can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/

If you do not see the updates, you might need to click the Check for updates button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.

Please remember to backup your database before you proceed.

Let me know if the issue persists after an update has been done.
