Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate Elementor archive pages on my site hidden link . I have a lot of categories, and for every category, there is an archive page assigned to it. Most of the categories are translated already.
Symptoms:
When I add the archive translation, it doesn't work and it's always 404.
Questions:
How can I correctly translate Elementor archive pages using WPML?
Why do my translated archive pages return a 404 error?
Please update your WPML plugin and add-ons to the latest version, 4.6.12, to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem; however, we need to work on the newest code available to troubleshoot the issue best.
You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site. Instructions to update can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/
If you do not see the updates, you might need to click the Check for updates button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.
Please remember to backup your database before you proceed.
Could you please provide a few examples if the issue persists after an update has been done?
I dont see any updates in commercial tab as well... I think this is because the key is wrong and i need to update it, since the site uses the key from my mlocal installation... how do i do it? Check also the screenshot i attached
Yes i ve completed the translation for 100%.
There is one thing... should i set the display condditions for the translated archives? Cause for the original one it is set to work for sun-sea category posts, and what i mean is to ask - should the translated archive work for the transated category of the original archive automatically? or is there an additional step?
The translated category has a different slug, which could be a reason for the issue. Try to switch the language in the admin and see if the condition is valid for the secondary language.
Yes, the display conditions are not being set in elementor for that translated archive... but the problem is if i set it for translated category, the display conditions for the original archive are being reset ... so it seems like it's either one or another... can you check it somehow? i can provide the credentials for you
Hello, i m sorry for being so persistent, but i have a strict deadline to finish the transltation of the site. can you please help me? if there is an issue or a bug somewhere, you probably could spot it better then me... I can provide the creadentials for you to debug it. Thank you in advance!
Hello again, i ve tried to deactivate all the plugins. And it seems like the reason is the Yoast SEO plugin, because in the settings due to the client's request i set to exclude 'category' word from the url. And it seems to be breaking the whole flow... If i disable it, then i dont even need to translate the archives they are catching up the right category automatically... Do you something for that case?
In the meantime, could you please upload some backend screenshots of this option and the place where you set the display conditions?
I also need to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site – preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible – in order to be of better help. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
