[Resolved] WPML admin panel is very slow with multiple languages in WooCommerce
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are experiencing a significant slowdown in the WordPress admin panel when managing products in multiple languages using WPML on your WooCommerce site. The site has 23 languages and approximately 4600 products. The slowdown is directly linked to the activation of WPML Multilingual CMS, and deactivating it restores the admin panel speed. Solution: We recommend creating a staging site to safely test without affecting your live environment. You can use the WP Staging plugin for this purpose. Once the staging site is set up, please share the access credentials with us in a private message so we can further investigate the issue and identify specific optimizations or solutions.
Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to manage my products and content in the admin panel of my WooCommerce site, hidden link, using WPML for multiple languages.
Symptoms:
The WPML admin panel is extremely slow when multiple languages are active.
Questions:
Hello WPML Support Team,
I am experiencing a significant slowdown in my WordPress admin panel, particularly when managing products in multiple languages (23 languages). Recently, I have not added new products, yet the admin performance has worsened.
Here are the details of my setup and actions I have taken:
WordPress Version: Latest
PHP Version: 8.2
Theme: Woodmart
Plugins: WPML, WP Rocket, UpdraftPlus, and a few others
WP Rocket Optimizations Done:
Database Cleanup: Post revisions, transients cleared
CSS/JS: Minified
PHP Settings:
WP_MEMORY_LIMIT: 512M
WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT: 512M
set_time_limit: 300
Multilingual Setup: Admin panel shows only Estonian, other languages are hidden for testing
Other Notes: No unnecessary plugins are active besides UpdraftPlus; lazy load is already handled by the theme
Issue: Despite these optimizations, the admin panel is still very slow when accessing products. I want to improve the speed without losing any product data or multilingual content.
Could you please advise:
If there are WPML-specific optimizations I can apply for better admin performance?
Whether hiding languages or performing database cleanup affects WPML data integrity?
Any other recommended steps for large multilingual WooCommerce stores?
I have confirmed through testing that the admin panel slowdown is directly caused by WPML Multilingual CMS.
When I deactivate WPML Multilingual CMS, the admin panel speed returns to normal.
Activating it again immediately triggers the slowdown.
My site has 23 languages and ~4600 products, which previously worked fine.
Could you advise on any WPML-specific optimizations or solutions for large WooCommerce stores to restore normal admin performance without deactivating WPML?
For clarity, Redis is active on my hosting, and when WPML is deactivated, the admin panel is fast even with all ~4600 products visible. This confirms that the slowdown is entirely WPML-related, not server or product-count related.
I am experiencing a severe slowdown in my WordPress admin panel caused directly by WPML Multilingual CMS.
Details:
Site: hidden link
Languages: 23
Products: ~4600 (approx. 200 per language)
WordPress Version: Latest
PHP Version: 8.2
Theme: Woodmart
Other Plugins: WP Rocket, UpdraftPlus, and a few others
Redis is active on hosting
Observations:
When WPML Multilingual CMS is deactivated, the admin panel is fast, even with all products visible.
Activating WPML immediately triggers the slowdown.
No new products or pages have been added recently; this issue appeared suddenly.
When trying to add a product to the cart from the product page in the front-end, the action keeps loading and does not complete.
Despite this, the site is still functional for customers—they can browse the site, but product pages and add-to-cart functionality are affected in the admin/front-end.
Request:
Please advise WPML-specific optimizations or solutions for large WooCommerce stores to restore normal admin performance without deactivating WPML, and to fix the add-to-cart issue.
This issue is urgent as the admin panel is nearly unusable, and product functionality is affected, though customers can still browse the site.
Please create a staging site (you can use the WP Staging plugin for free) and share the access credentials in your next message, which I have set private.
This will allow us to run tests to isolate the cause of the issue without affecting the production site.
