This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing 404 errors on their website when switching between categories in the English translation using the WPML plugin. The issue does not occur on the source version of the website, and the server logs indicate that the page cannot be found. The client suspects a problem with the .htaccess file.

Solution:
We recommend increasing the PHP Time Limit to 300 to ensure it is not affecting the website after loading pages consecutively. You can find the documentation on how to do this here: https://wpastra.com/docs/increase-php-time-limit-wordpress-sites/

Additionally, we suggest following the steps provided in our errata page regarding the .htaccess file being rewritten with the language folder. Please try the solution outlined here: https://wpml.org/errata/htaccess-is-rewritten-with-language-folder/

If the solution provided here is irrelevant, either because it's outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket with us.

Good evening,

I would like to report an issue that occurs on our website related to changing the language settings, specifically to English. We are experiencing a problem that is new to us and has not occurred before when using the WPML plugin on other domains.

The issue can be reproduced as follows: While translating the website using the WPML plugin (which I use on several websites without any issues), a specific problem arises on the website royalgreenwholesale.com When the language is changed to English and then various categories are selected consecutively, this results in a 404 error after browsing between the categories several times. The server logs indicate that the page cannot be found. However, it is important to note that the source version of the website remains accessible without any issues.

I suspect there may be a problem with the .htaccess file, but I am not certain. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate your expertise and advice in investigating and resolving this issue.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Kind regards,

Flavio

Hi Flavio,

Your server settings look great, if possible please increase your PHP Time Limit to 300 in case this is affecting it after loading consecutively.

I was able to reproduce the issue by the way after switching categories a few times, refreshing did not help and it looks like it affects only the translation.
