This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to translate the footer and header using WPML, despite following forums and online guides. The issue persists after multiple installations.

Solution:
1. Check if Header, Footer, or Templates are listed as Post Types under WPML > Settings > Post Type Translation and ensure they are set to "Translatable - only show translated content".
2. Translate the Header and Footer Templates using the WPML Translation Editor.
3. Translate all pages and synchronize the menu at WPML > WP Menus Sync.
Complete guide on translating menus with WPML
4. For 10Web Templates, switch the language in the admin bar and add the missing display condition to each template.
5. If using 10Web Builder, delete the translated template, switch the translation method to WordPress Editor, and create a new translation.

Please note that the solution might be irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If needed, do not hesitate to open a new support ticket for further assistance.

Eddy

I've been attempting to translate my footer (and header) for several days, but it doesn't appear to be working.

I've followed all the forums and online guides, but nothing has helped.

I've already installed and uninstalled it five times, but there's been no change; the footer and header still won't translate.

Hello,

This might be related to 10Web Builder and we are sadly not yet familiar with this plugin.

Could you please revise if you find the Header, Footer, or Templates as Post Type at WPML > Settings > Post Type Translation?

If so, then please make sure that the post type is set to "Translatable - only show translated content".

After that, you should be able to translate the Header and Footer Templates with the WPML Translation Editor, similar to pages or posts.

If this will not solve the issue, I can offer to have a look at the site or provide a WPML Test Site on which you install the theme and its plugins for testing.

The Builder Theme was not yet tested by us:

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your response.

In Post Type at WPML > Settings > Post Type Translation i find the Templates but the Header and Footer are not on this page.

Do i send you a user login of the website?

Best regards,

Eddy

Sure, I will take a look, but first please try setting "Templates" to "Translatable - only show translated content" and then translate the theme's templates with the WPML Translation Editor.

If this will not solve the issue, then please let me know.

Thanks,

Settings of "Templates" to "Translatable - only show translated content" is selected (see attachment)

And translating the Templates already is working, only the footer and header are not translating.

Hello,

On Templates > 10Web Templates the "Header 1" template is not yet translated.

Could you please translate the template first?

Also, please translate all your pages.

Then sync the menu at WPML > WP Menus Sync. This will automatically create the menu in all languages.

Eddy

I translated the Header.

I already translated al the pages twice but due to many tweaks in WMPL to try to get the footer/header to work, i needed to restore the back-up.

Can't we test the footer/header with the contact page i already translated? hidden link

The menu's translation work like a charm to, no problems there.

Best regards
Eddy

In this case, you need to go to Templates > 10WebTemplates, switch the language admin bar, and add the missing display condition to each template.

This solved the issue now.

Somehow this seems not to work out for the footer.

I can offer a WPML Test Site on which you can install the theme and its plugins so that we run some tests.

Would you be able to provide the theme and its plugins for this porpose?

Eddy

The 10web theme is not downloadable. I asked the support for the theme and they have to ask the higher up's and will email me back with a response.

Thanks for the patience.

Thank you for your message.

Maybe we might not need the theme, but the 10Web Builder Plugin in its latest available version.

Here is a link to a test site on which we should run some tests and try to recreate the issue.

Please install the 10Web Builder plugin for testing.

On my test, the template translation works, once I set the display condition on the translated templates manually.

Example: hidden link

I will need to take another look at your site and reach out to you again later.

Hello,

I took a copy of your site for testing.

I can sadly not recreate this issue and I am unsure why there are issues with your footer, but if I edit the footer manually directly in Elementor, it seems to solve the issue.

Please go to the original Footer and set inside the right sidebar of the WordPress-Editor the "WordPress Editor" as the translation method for this template.

Then click the translation icon, open Elementor, and edit your translated Footer template manually.

This solved the issue on my test.

Best regards
Andreas
