This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are unable to display the special Dutch homepage when switching languages on your site.
Solution:
First, ensure that the necessary pages are translated or duplicated into Dutch. You can manage your menu items and add the translated pages here: Menu Management.
If certain pages are missing in the Dutch version, you should translate or duplicate them. For guidance on duplicating content, visit Duplicating Content.

Hi,

Can you tell me what do you mean by "special Dutch homepage"?

I can see that the translation of the home page takes us to hidden link

Can you clarify a bit more?

Good morning, Yes please. it is a big problem for me (and my customer).

Please look at:
1. the language menu. (2 flags) -> this is right
2. Beneath you see the pages shown from the English menu
2A. these are only the pages of the english menu and after choosing the Dutch flag from the language only the translated pages will show.
2B. It is important when choosing the Dutch flag the Dutch menu will show. The Dutch menu that has to be shown is called: Primary Navigation

Hope you can help

Best regards, Evertjan Bos

This is the menu and you can add your menu items here:

hidden link

But there are some items missing and can't be added until you translate (or duplicate at least https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content) these pages into Dutch:
