[Resolved] Genesis Layout not adjustable on second language
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is trying to change the Genesis Layout for a second language page. The layout automatically updates to match the original language layout, and manual changes to the layout are not being saved.
Solution: We recommend navigating to WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation, then clicking on Show System Fields. Here, find and unlock the
_genesis_layout
field and set it to "Not Translate". This should allow for different layouts to be selected for each language without being overridden by the original language layout.

I am trying to: Change the Genesis Layout on the second language. The original language is set to Full Width Content. The second language automatically updates to this layout, but it should not. When I manually change the second language to the "Default layout" or "Content, Primary-Sidebar", it does not save.

I expected to see: The Genesis Layout be different for two languages, based on the selections I've chosen.
Instead, I got: The Genesis Layout is 'forced' based on the original language layout.
I have tried: Unchecking "Synchronize page template" under "Posts and pages synchronization". This did not work.
I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Also, please update WPML plugins to the latest versions.
Hello can you not test this on any Genesis theme? Are you saying it is only our theme that does this?
It would be logistically very hard and time consuming for me to set up a site that you can access since we have a lot of customer data on our site that we can't share with outside companies.
To save the load of time that it would take for us to make you a 'clean' site with our theme and all our plugins and settings, but without customer data, can you please confirm this does not happen with all Genesis themes?
I've set up a sandbox site for testing purposes. I have also installed the Genesis Theme on our sandbox site at the following link: hidden link .
To achieve what you needed there, kindly navigate to WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation > Show System Fields > Unlock "_genesis_layout" and configure the option to "Not Translate" as shown in the attached screenshot.
Then, check and see if you're able to select a different layout on your translated page.
