Hello,

Thank you for contacting WPML support team,

Some potentials tips to optimize credit usage is :

1- Use the "choose what to translate" option

This will allow you to select what products or post type you would like to translate automatically, because if you use the "translate everything" option, WPML will end up translating everything on your site.

Translation management is the tool you will use to select what to translate and what not : https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#translating-pages-posts-and-custom-post-types

And you can change the translation options under WPML > Settings

2- Not all engines use the same amount of credits

WPML comes with three different translation engines :

1 word = 1 credit Azure = 2 credits Google = 2 credits DeepL

So logically, azure would cost you half the amount comparing to the other two, you can disable them from WPML > Settings > Translation Engines

But keep in mind, you should test Azure translation first on one of your pages to verify its quality and capabilities. Because depending on the language, Azure might not be able to translate everything.

3- Note that when you use automatic translation, WPML will save a copy of it under our servers:

this function is called "translation memory" which allow you to avoid retranslating similar content again, if a sentence exists on every product, it will only be translated once and applied everywhere.

I hope this helped you get a clearer idea on credit usage,

Best,
