This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

When activating the WPML Multilingual CMS, version 4.7.1, on a WordPress site, most published posts disappear from the 'Posts' dashboard. Although the post count indicates 50, only 6 posts are visible. This issue resolves when the WPML plugin is deactivated.

Solution:

First, ensure you have a full site backup before proceeding with any changes. If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend following the troubleshooting steps provided in the WPML documentation. You can find the troubleshooting guide here: WPML Troubleshooting Options.

Additionally, check if the issue persists after applying the workaround suggested in a related support ticket, which can be accessed here: Database Error Code 1054.

If the solution provided here is outdated or does not apply to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should these steps not resolve your issue, please open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
When I activate the WPML Multilingual CMS - version 4.7.1 - on my WordPress site, the majority of my published posts disappear from the 'Posts' dashboard. The post count reads 50, but only 6 posts are visible. They are still there in the database, but will not appear in the UI. This issue is visible on the admin page posts dashboard: hidden link.

Once I deactivate the WPML plugin, I can see all the posts again.

Symptoms:
When activating the WPML Multilingual CMS, version 4.7.1, most of my published posts disappear from the 'Posts' dashboard. The post count shows 50, but only 6 posts are displayed.

Questions:
Why do my posts disappear from the dashboard when I activate the WPML plugin?
How can I ensure all my posts are visible when using WPML?

Hello,

This will be related to the following ticket. Please try the workaround suggested there after a full site backup {mandatory} and make sure the bug exists or not.

Hello, I ran the SQL query and I can see that a column `ate_sync_count` was added to my wp_<prefix>_icl_translate_job table. However the error remains. Here are the new errors in the debug log (Google doc):
