You are trying to assign product categories after translating them on your WordPress site using WPML, but the categories are not being assigned.

1. Go to WPML > Taxonomy Translation.
2. Select the product categories.
3. Verify that each category is correctly linked to its translated version.
If the categories are still not assigned correctly after following these steps, it might be due to a compatibility issue with your theme or another plugin. In this case, we suggest:
- Deactivating other plugins temporarily to see if there is a conflict.
- Switching to a default theme temporarily to rule out theme conflicts.

Background of the issue:
