This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where adding a specific product tag in the English version of their WooCommerce store, which uses Elementor, causes product variations to disappear. This occurs after duplicating the product from Dutch to English and attempting to apply a different Elementor template via the product tag.
Solution:
1. Avoid manually editing the second language product/post or mixing translation methods. If manual edits are necessary, switch from the WPML editor to WordPress and continue manually to avoid issues. More details can be found here: Using different translation editors for different pages.
2. Ensure that product attributes are global and translated via WPML > Taxonomy translation to avoid issues with local attributes.
3. Disable the synchronization of taxonomies with translations by navigating to WPML > Settings > Posts and pages synchronization, unchecking "Copy taxonomy to translations", and saving the changes.

If these steps do not resolve the issue or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hi Kor,

This solves a part of the problem, yes the Variations do appear again. HOWEVER.... my tag on the English website also disappears. The tag we create = Dutch PDP on EN (so a different product page layout is taken in the english shop for that specific product, when I 'resync' the product like this... it removes the tag and it keeps using the old page in elementor.

When I add the tag back again.. the variations disappear again. So i'm stuck in a loop. Do you have a fix or workaround for this too?

Hello,

lets continue in this new ticket.

To understand better, please share your full steps on what are you doing, and how are you adding tag in both language, and what kind of templates are you using.

You can share a video if it is easier.

Thanks,
Drazen

Explanation below. I will create a video too. So you can see what happens too.

We have built the webshop using Elementor and Woocommerce.

1. We create product in main language (dutch).
2. The product variations are added and all info is filled in.
3. We then go to translations / duplicate content to EN and fix all the translations there. (However the product options do not work properly in EN as you can see).
4. In english we add a different producttag, to get a different elementor template on the English website. So this product uses a different template in English, than it does in the main language.
5. As soon as I add the product tag to the product. The product variations disappear and do not work/appear anymore. Cannot get them to appear again, only by adding a space in the title and updating the product on the main language. (to sort of resync).
6. I cannot get the product variations to appear properly for products with this specific product tag or when duplicated from dutch to EN, to appear on the EN website.

Hello,

thanks for getting back, that is helpful reply.

1) First thing, you should not edit manually 2nd language product / post or mix translation methods, as that will cause issue. If you wish to do it manually you need to do the switch from WPML editor to WordPress and continue doing it manually, as otherwise it will cause issue.

2) Make sure your attributes are global and translated from WPML > Taxonomy translation. Using local attribute can sometimes some issues.

3) Make sure you have not to sync taxonomies with translation, as otherwise they will always be synced with default language.

You can do so from WPML > Settings > Posts and pages synchronization > Uncheck "Copy taxonomy to translations" and save.

Please try and let me know if that helps.

Drazen

For some reason this does not solve the issue with the variations not properly being taken over to the english language.

Why does this appear so weirdly here. And I cannot do anything with them.. I've changed all the other settings. But so far I cannot influence the variations yet.

Hello,

lets please keep the topic on 1 issue and we can then solve each issue you have, since mixing makes conversation a bit more difficult to follow and in the end to solve the issue you have, as we keep jumping between 2 different topics.

Lets get back to your tag issue, did you try the suggestion above and does that helps and solves the problem with tag? Does the tag now stays on 2nd language and is not being reverted?

Drazen

The tags now stay when I edit the main language version. So this is now fixed. Now the other issue needs to be fixed where the product attributes and variations are not showing at the EN language.
