Hello. We ran into a problem on several of our web pages. After updating to WordPress 6.3, the pages have decreased their performance in a large amount and saturate the CPU of our servers, occupying large percentages. We are monitoring the performance with various plugins such as the Laps plugin and the loading time of one of our pages, among others, has increased from 2 seconds to about 55 seconds on average. If you deactivate WPML, the performance returns to what was expected.

Hi,

Here is the ticket. Please make a full backup of your site and database then share the backup file with me. I will try to restore it on the local host and investigate the issue further.
You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

Your next reply is set to private to share the info.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

I'm asking our 2nd tier support about this issue and update you here when I have something to share.

Thanks.

Ok. We would greatly appreciate any temporary workaround you can find. Currently, we've disabled Rank Math on several sites as a less critical measure compared to disabling WPML. However, this situation is not sustainable for an extended period.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

After following the suggestion of our 2nd tier support to delete untranslated strings in WPML > String Translation, now your site load faster with Rank Math plugin activated.
Refer to the documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/#attachment_9608145

But it leads to the performance issue with the plugin Divi Pixel. Can you please update this plugin to the new version 2.26.0 and recheck this issue?

This plugin is not available in our list of compatible plugins, which you can check here https://wpml.org/plugin/. So I recommend contacting the plugin author and asking them about this issue if they are aware of this.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hello.

Thanks for the quickness. I have tried to activate Divi Pixel and update it to the latest version, but it seems that the performance problem persists. Even so, I have verified that the combination of WPML + Divi Pixel without Rank Math works correctly. It is the combination of these three that makes it not go well. We will contact Divi Pixel to tell them. If for your part you manage to solve the problem, it would be of great help since it affect the 3 plugins. From Rank Math they have already said it clear to us that it is not their problem, for them it comes from the server...

Hi,

It could be a compatibility issue between Divi Pixel, Rank Math and WPML. We will address that by reporting this to the compatibility team.

To be able to report the compatibility issue we need to replicate the issue on a clean installation. I created a clean installation of WordPress, WPML, and all necessary WPML add-ons. You can access the WordPress dashboard using the link below:
hidden link

Kindly follow the steps below:

- Don’t restore your site there.
- Install plugins Divi Pixel, Rank Math, and theme Divi.
- Try to replicate the issue with minimal steps.
- Then let me know the steps to replicate it.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. We were on vacation.

It seems that the sandbox has expired. If you can turn it back on.

In any case, we have been investigating other websites that we have affected and the performance problem only occurs when the websites have minimal traffic. So I am afraid that in a private sandbox we will not encounter this problem since there is no traffic. In any case, we will try to reproduce it.

Hi,

Please try again with this sandbox site hidden link

I think if it is a real issue, it could be replicated on a sandbox site because I also see that issue when restoring your site on my local host (no traffic). Let me know steps if you can replicate the issue there.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

I have already installed the problematic plugins, but I have not seen the performance of the site affected.

The same has happened to us with our websites, in production the performance has been affected in quantity to the traffic of that page. When we have passed these websites to our test environments, the performance has returned to what was expected as there was no traffic. Only on the test page on which we have been dealing this problem has remained the same.

Hi,

I follow the documentation https://wpml.org/errata/wordpress-6-3-performance-issues-with-string-translation-in-specific-scenarios/
and downgrade WordPress core on your staging site to 6.2.2 and it looks work better now. Can you please recheck this on your end?

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

I have checked and it seems that downgrading the WordPress version works correctly.

I also tried the first option to remove the strings from the default domain in the real environment, but it didn't work.

In any case, we will be paying attention to the entry that you have created and we will wait for the problem to be solved definitively.

So, for our part, everything would be there, unless you indicate otherwise, I will close the ticket.
