I added translations, but I do not see them working. Only if I enable "Look for strings while pages are rendered" setting - I see translated strings on DE page

DE:

You can see labels "Basic Details", "Features", "Description" - all them have translations but they are not translated on DE version

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

While you are waiting for one of my colleagues to take this ticket and work on it, let me provide you with first debugging steps or if I can perhaps help with the issue quickly.

Can you perhaps try this for few of these strings, does it help?

Hello Bruno,

I've done that before contacting support. Didn't work for me.

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I'll be happy to help you with this. It sounds like you already tried deleting and registering the strings. If that is the case, then please go to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting and look for the message to regenerate .mo files. After they are regenerated, see if you are able to see the translations. If not, please repeat the steps of trying to delete and re-register the strings. Does this resolve the issue?

Thanks for sending access to the site so that I could take a look. I tried regenerating the .mo files but that did not solve the issue either.

I've set up a clean install so that we can test and see if the issue with the theme happens on any site. Please use this link to login to the test site and upload a copy of your theme. Let me know once the theme is uploaded and I will continue troubleshooting there. Thanks!

I'm just adding one observation to this conversation -- maybe it helps you understand the issue.

After we copied the site, the translations were initially appearing correctly. But after a few minutes / re-opening the single property pages, the strings started to appear in English (as they do on the original site).

I actually need to be able to test a clean install versus a copy of your site, in order for me to escalate to our compatibility team. Once the theme is installed I should be able to activate the required plugins. Please let me know once it is set up and I will try to reproduce the issue there. Thanks!

Hello Lauren,

I installed our theme - 'habitabell' with its parent theme - 'WPL TwentyEight'.

To reproduce the issue - you need to do next:
- install WPL Realtyna plugin (we are using PRO version);
- configure WPL;
- create search-results, single-property pages with translations, add WPL shortcodes to both pages:
[wpl_widget_instance id="wpl_search_widget-{widgetID}"]
[hb_button_save_search]
[WPL];
- import some properties;

after that you will get single property page working.

Thanks

Thanks so much for setting that up for me. I've got the theme and plugin active, and I created a test listing. I don't see how to set Listings to translatable in WPML -> Settings. How did you manage to set the listings as translatable, or create a listing in the second language?

Thanks in advance for your additional help.

I don't think you can declare listings as translatable, because they are not pages/posts.

Please also note that we don't want to translate the content of the listings. Instead we want to translate WPL field names, which then can appear on the single property pages.

Therefore, we need to scan the plugin for strings and then translate the field names. As initially noted, the WPML plugin correctly identifies those strings. But the translation doesn't appear, unless the "Look for strings while pages are rendered" string translation option in checked.

For example, you could run a string scan of the plugin and look for the string "Basic Details", which appears on the listing page.

Okay, but the translations will only show then the "page" or "post" is displayed in the second language. I notice in your original example you show a property in two different languages:
EN:

DE:

How did you get the property in a second language? Are you creating a page and inserting a shortcode? You also have different slugs for property, so I am just trying to understand how this is all set up if listings cannot be translated.

Ah, I see. I think the problem is that you're not using the WPL PRO version. Only the PRO version allows for activating the multilanguage feature of WPL.

Does that address your question?

That would explain why I don't see the same. Do you mind logging in to the test site and installing a copy of your Pro version so that I can test? I will be sure to delete the test site once we are done testing so that it does not go against any policy for WPL. I just checked and the only copy we have internally is the free version that I currently have uploaded. If that is okay, you can login with this link: hidden link

Sure, I've uploaded the plugin. I think in order to activate it successfully you first need to deactivate the previous WPL plugin.

I was able to reproduce the issue in a clean install, so I have escalated this to our compatibility team. Thanks for your patience while we continue to troubleshoot.
