Background of the issue:
I created a staging site T1 from my live site L1 which only has content in English. I started with translating the English content in T1 to 2 other languages. However, L1 had some malware which I have already got removed. I now have a clean live site L2. Since T1 is staged from L1 it potentially is also compromised. I created a new staging site T2 from the clean live site L2 which currently only has English content. I need to transfer my translated content from T1 to T2.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
How do I transfer translated content from site T1 to site T2?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

You have two options in this case:

1) Connect both sites and have them share the translation memory. Once they are connected, send the contents for translations, and the Advanced Translation Editor will auto-complete the translations:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-subscription-for-multiple-sites/

2) Use our add-on WPML Export & Import, which works with the native export and import options of WordPress, WooCommerce, or by using the plugin WP All Export / WP All Import:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards
Andreas

Andreas,
Thanks for the reply.
I have a clarification regarding option 2:

Please confirm if I understand the capabilities and process correctly:
1. WPML Export and Import plugin on its own does not do the actual exporting and importing of content
2. I need to use another plugin like WP Import Export Lite to do the actual exporting / importing. I will need to follow the workflow of the plugin to do the export/ import.
3. I need the WPML Export and Import plugin to work together with the WP Import Export Lite plugin to:
Add language information to exports
Keep imported content hidden until my translations are connected
Assign correct language information and link translations

Based on your knowledge of WPML Export Import Plugin working together with WP Import Export Lite plugin, will I be able to do the export/ import of the 4 listed items below which I have translated in my specific case:

1. Miscellaneous Theme and Plugin Strings (Done with WPML String Translations)
2. All Taxonomy Terms (Property Types, Statuses, Features, States, Cities) with specific name/slug handling.
3. SEO Title Templates and various site-wide descriptions.
4. Widget Titles and Content

I have not translated any pages or posts so I do not need them exported/ imported for the moment.

1. WPML Export and Import plugin on its own does not do the actual exporting and importing of content

- No, the addon only adds the necessary information to the export files and then merges the content on import so that it will be available in all languages

2. I need to use another plugin like WP Import Export Lite to do the actual exporting / importing. I will need to follow the workflow of the plugin to do the export/ import.

- You can use the export/import options of WordPress, at Tools > Export and Tools > Import. You can also use the export/import options of WooCommerce at Products > Export or Import. Further, you can use WP All Export and WP All Import.

3. I need the WPML Export and Import plugin to work together with the WP Import Export Lite plugin to:
Add language information to exports
Keep imported content hidden until my translations are connected
Assign correct language information and link translations

Yes, this is what the addon does. To hide languages, please follow this guide:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/hiding-languages-on-the-front-end/

----

1. Miscellaneous Theme and Plugin Strings (Done with WPML String Translations)

No, those String Translations are not exportable with any method or plugin, but you can download .po-files (language files) from one site and import them on the other site WPML > String Translation. You can export strings per text-domain and then import them on the new site for each language.

2. All Taxonomy Terms (Property Types, Statuses, Features, States, Cities) with specific name/slug handling.

Yes, you can do that, but I would suggest first running an import only for taxonomies, and after that running an import the posts.

3. SEO Title Templates and various site-wide descriptions.

As those are part of the content of each post or page, they are also exported as custom fields and able to be imported. Make sure to have our add-on WPML SEO installed and active but take note that it only works together with Yoast SEO or Rankmath SEO.

WPML SEO:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-seo/

4. Widget Titles and Content

If you refer to the footer or sidebar widgets, I am afraid that there might not be any standard tool that allows you to export those. You might be able to export them with an additional plugin, but this is not yet supported with "WPML Export & Import":
