WPML works fine with page builder plugins, but right now, there isn’t an integrated translation interface for them. This means that if you want to have different hard-coded texts in these layouts, you’ll need to duplicate them and edit, per language. Will this work for you?
I’m about to purchase this plugin for the first time and would like to know if the translators that we can send text to for each page charge an extra fee per translation, so that I may know how much to quote a client in advance. Thank you.
When you buy WPML, it doesn’t come with translation for your content. WPML lets you translate your content or send it to professional translation. We also offer translation via ICanLocalize – our human translation service. Prices are around $0.09 USD / word, but this depends on the language pair.
Installing WPML is like installing any other plugin, by file upload. You can upload the ZIP file to your WordPress admin, or upload it manually using an FTP program. WPML runs smoothly with Genesis.
Hello, I just logged into my account only to discover I no longer considered a subscriber. I have no access to support or downloads. I’ve been a user since before the product was commercial, and according to an email sent 2/2/11 announcing the switchover, “All current clients, who are running and translating active sites, will receive a complementary subscription for the CMS edition. In other words, they won’t need to pay.”
Is this correct? Or do I have to pay for a subscription now? I have purchased subscriptions for other sites that have started up after the product went commercial, but I thought this particular account was grandfathered. Please respond as I have an urgent issue I need support with.
Any response to this? I cannot update my site because of the problem I’ve logged below and I cannot update the software. I don’t want to purchase a subscription if the software isn’t stable.
Plus, I want to know what happened to my grandfathered subscription.
I’m not sure what happened with your wpml.org account. I see a blank account, without any orders associated with it. Did you use this email when you bought WPML? If you have some record of your account, or your payment, send it to our contact page and our site’s admin will help.
From what you are describing, it sounds like there is some sort of corruption with the languages table. You can go to WPML->Support->Troubleshooting. There, click on the button to add language information where it’s missing. You should back up your database before doing these troubleshooting operations.
I have a website and the site will be translated into 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, German and Chinese. All content is editable from the back office independently for each language: text, images, downloadable files and videos. Please let me know WPML plugin satisfies our needs?
Yes, this is exactly what WPML does. It lets you add multiple languages to a single WordPress site and lets you translate your content from the WordPress admin.
Since WPML uses different posts for different languages, you can create different versions of your images and videos and upload each to its language.
Hello, If I upgrade to WPML lifetime, I need to know that it will work. I am losing translations on my pages every time I do an update. I see from the forums that from Dec 2013 through Feb 2014 this was a major issue affecting lots of people. Has this been fixed? I can’t purchase the product is this will be an issue and will have to find an alternative solution to my language capabilities on the site. Thanks.
When you update WPML the content of your site should NEVER be lost. It’s the same, no matter what account type you have. I need to see the sequence of operations that you’re doing and a description of how content is lost. Have you reported it in our forum? If so, can you please paste a link here?
I tried to log this into the forum but it said I was not longer a subscriber. See my issue above on the same day.
In terms of the issue, all I did was go to my home page which was set up in 4 languages. English is the default language. When I went to make changes to my other 3 languages, I noticed that the language box did not show the edit pencils so I could navigate to the other languages (where the content existed already). Instead, it showed the + sign and duplicate check box as if I had never entered the text before.
If I select the language from the options above at top menu, it brings me to a blank page. So not sure where the content is going. I keep having to create new pages, which is creating new page ids each time.
If you can let me know about both issues (the lost content and subscriber issues) that would be great. Thanks.
I’m looking for a multi-lingual site plugin at the moment and yours seems to fit the bill. However, will it automatically translate my woo commerce pages? I also use the woo themes training plugin which hosts lessons, quizzes and certificates – will your site automatically translate these?
WPML doesn’t translate your site’s content automatically. It lets you translate content, or send content to offsite translators. WPML will handle all the standard WooCommerce pages. Meaning, it generates the ‘shop’, ‘cart’ and similar pages automatically for you, so that your visitors see the entire checkout process in their language. These are not really ‘content’ pages, but pages with shortcodes that display the standard WooCommerce functionality.
Sorry, but I’m not familiar with this theme or Stagframework. We are very happy to work on compatibility together with theme authors. Would you like to refer the author of this theme to our Go Global program? http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
how do you deal with the growing number of website selling your (and others) plugins for a cheaper price without even removing trademarks, taking GPL IMHO as an excuse for stealing?

Hi. We have 2 versions of one site, first is Italian (bellavitaexpo.com) and the other is English (bellavitaexpo.com/en).
The Italian version is in the root folder and the EN is on a subfolder of course.
QUESTION 1
If I want to install WPML and just run everything from one dashboard, how’s that going to happen, can I do it from the actual plugin settings? Or do I have to mess around with the FTP?
QUESTION 2
Is the geotargeting (once issue 1 is sorted) set up possible from the plugin settings page? (rel=”alternate” hreflang=”x” etc)
QUESTION 3
I have already Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools in place for the sites, do I have to change anything there once I install WPML and change site settings?
1) WPML will set up the virtual folders for the different languages. The default language normally appears in the site’s root URL and other languages appear in ‘folders’. These folders are only URL rewrite rules. You should remove any physical directories for languages from under the WordPress installation path.
2) WPML does this automatically. It will cross link translations for Google.
3) You shouldn’t have to change anything. Google doesn’t care how the content got there. It doesn’t see if you have one WordPress installation with WPML, or multiple WordPress installs, one per language.
I amusing translate right now.
Our web site is in 2 languages : Russian and English.
The only problem with qtranslate is that it requires specific WP version and you can’t update WP until qtranslate supports it.
It’s so inconvenient that I am looking for an alternative.
Do you think you can help me to migrate to WPML from qtranslate ?
I know you have migration tools but I am not so confident I can do this myself?
Since WordPress 3.9 is here, we are going to re-test our importer plugin and make sure that it runs smoothly on the current WordPress version. We’re planning to do this next week.
Thanks for helping out. I’ve added your email to our development tasks management. As soon as we start on this (right after Easter), the developer working on this task will contact you to get your qTranslate database. Is this OK?
Hi, Before I buy this plugin, I have few questions.
Basically our requirement is:
1. A way for admin to input contents “in chosen fields” in different languages.
2. A language switcher on the front-end that allows user to switch between different languages input in step 1.
About our platform:
Our platform is a crowdfunding platform powered by ignitiondeck plugin.
This plugin creates custom post type called “Project”.
Obviously “Project” consists of many custom fields (e.g. Project Title, Project Description, Project Price, Project FAQ, Project Updates etc.)
What we need is a way for admin to input our chosen fields in different languages.
For example, we would like project Description and Project FAQ in different languages and leave everything as the way it is.
So, our question is, does WPML meet our requirement?

Would it be possible to buy it and test it, if it doesn’t meet our requirement, get a refund?
We don’t have the time to wait for the author to get interested in participate in that program.
Hi, this year i missed the renewal for 39$ so now my account has expired and i have to buy a lifetime account 116$.
I have not received any email warning, if I had received, I renewed regularly, you can still renew at $ 39 or do I have to pay a new lifetime account? Thank you.
Sorry about this. We send renewal reminder emails 30 days and 3 days before account expiration. Maybe they landed in your SPAM? If you decide to upgrade to Lifetime, you will only need to pay the difference ($116).
I have decided to try wpml basic for an english/german website I am building for a friend. I am thinking of language directories, is there anything other than changing the permalink I need to take care of – I am using Thesis, and I don’t know anything about .mo and .po and all that stuff. I don’t seem to be able to find a step by step installation / setup guide anywhere – preferably with good screenshots and/or video tutorials, so I can follow the instructions – is there such a thing, and where do I find it?
WPML works fine with Thesis. These .mo files are intended to provide translation for hard-coded texts in the theme. If they come with the theme, that’s great. Otherwise, it’s not a big deal. You can still translate all these texts using WPML’s String Translation module.
The account renewal fee is only needed to receive updates and support. If you don’t renew your account, everything will continue working normally on your existing sites.
It is a good idea to keep your theme and all plugins updated to recent WordPress versions. We always update WPML when WordPress updates. If you don’t have a valid account, you will not be able to access these updates. Some times, these updates are cosmetic. Sometimes (like right now with WordPress 3.9) these updates are very significant. It’s really difficult to tell now, what changes will come with future WordPress versions.
If you buy a yearly account now, you can always upgrade to a Lifetime account later and pay only the difference.
And, you can use WPML on all your sites and sites for your clients.
The way our system is set up, you can renew at 50% while your subscription is valid (within the subscription year). When you do that, we add another year to the account expiration, starting from the original expiration date. After that time, we offer to buy a new account or upgrade to Lifetime.
Hi,
I have spent about an hour trying to post something to the support forum. It says I must be logged in to post, but I am logged in.
This is very frustrating 🙂
Please help 🙂

If the forum is giving you trouble, try to clear browser cache and cookies. Some times, you are not logged in, but the browser caches the content, so it displayed ‘logged in’.
hi, i would like buy this plugin for my clients web sites.
what i need is the same post which able to switch to different language by click on the language flags at right top corner . Also the main nav menu and footer , may be side menu able to change to that particular language as well. So does the Multilingual blog able to handle this or need cms version for the function of menu able to swtich in different languages as well. thanks
This is exactly what WPML does. The difference between the Blog and CMS versions is in the available modules and what they offer you to do in your site.
The Blog version is intended for simpler blogs, where a simple translation workflow is fine. The CMS version allows you to translate everything in WordPress and use more robust translation workflows.
You can start with the Blog version ($29). If you need the rest of the functionality, you can always upgrade and pay only the difference.
Hi. I have another quick question before purchasing the plugin.
Once the plugin will be implemented do we have the possibility to redirect the Italian readers/visitors to the Italian (.com) version of the site and vice versa, the English visitors to the English version (/en)?
Is there a way to have some sort of cookies which send directly the visitors to the right version of the site?
Thanks in advance.
I just bought a theme called “Directory Theme”. It is not in the theme compatibility listing but I found a page in the WPML support where in someone bought the same theme. But at the end, we don’t know if WPML works with.
The best thing would be for our theme-compatibility team to review this theme together with AIT people. As their client, can you ask them and see if they’re interested too? If so, we’ll be very happy to set it up and get started.
But is there a way to check if the website (http://firmap.sk/) use WPML for the translation? May be in in the source code…??? At the end in the home page the link to the flag is :
src=”http://firmap.szia.sk/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/res/flags/hu.png”
I’ve bought the plug in WPML buhavn’t received any email with my account credentials and the “forgot password” is not sending me any email.
Invoice Number: #REMOVED
Order Date: April 19, 2014
Transaction: REMOVED
Is it possible to send the account credentials to another email, maybe we are not receiving your email.
Let me know.
I reset and resent your password, but I’m getting this automated response from your email server:
We’re writing to let you know that the group you tried to contact (partners) may not exist, or you may not have permission to post messages to the group. A few more details on why you weren’t able to post:
* You might have spelled or formatted the group name incorrectly.
* The owner of the group may have removed this group.
* You may need to join the group before receiving permission to post.
* This group may not be open to posting.
You might want to provide us with a different email for your wpml.org account. Looks like we cannot deliver emails to your ‘partners’ email address.
We’re getting there. A new version of BuddyPress Multilingual went to QA, but BuddyPress is moving pretty fast and we’ll need to update it again now. We have a bit of a backlog with WordPress 3.9 updates too.
The yearly renewal is needed to keep getting our upgrades and support. If you don’t renew, things will continue working normally and will not just stop working on your sites. Renewal is important to keep getting new versions and have access to our support.
I am building a multisite multilanguage blog. Using WPML plugin, what is the best :
1) Do a multisite with one blog for each language (so if 3 languages, each blog has 3 issues, but all blogs on same multisite install)
2) Make a multisite install for each language
WPML lets you add several languages to the same site. So, you don’t need separate sites, including on a network, per language. If you need to run completely different sites (not translations of the same site), you can use multisite. If you just need one site with several languages, you can use WPML and you don’t need to use multisite.
Ok, so if i understand well, there is a big limitation with your plugin : to be associated with a post in another language, the translated post has to be on the same blog (same WP install), right ?
So I CANNOT make a multisite install for each language, right ? Because the link is only made locally (on the same WP install).
Can you confirm please ?
Thanks
That’s correct. Translations for content can only be in the same WordPress site (including inside the same child site in a network installation) and not in different websites.
hi, i am using page builders for layout design and i would like to know if your plug in works well together in order to create multilingual sites.

Installing WPML is like installing any other plugin, by file upload. You can upload the ZIP file to your WordPress admin, or upload it manually using an FTP program. WPML runs smoothly with Genesis.

We’ve created a plugin that converts from qTranslate to WPML:

Since WordPress 3.9 is here, we are going to re-test our importer plugin and make sure that it runs smoothly on the current WordPress version. We’re planning to do this next week.

Next week would be perfect to do this.

Looking forward to hear from them soon.

Hi,
I would like translate easy website. I think that for it is o.k. first version for 29$
My question is if I need pay every year 15$ if website will be all ready translated.
15$ per years is for renew it is like updates?
What will happend If I will not renew it?
For example If will update WordPress for higher version the WPML will not work if I will not renew it? Right?
Thinking If I will have to renew every year that better is buy last version 195$ and have everything for all life …
Ps: I can use it for many websites I want, right?
The account renewal fee is only needed to receive updates and support. If you don’t renew your account, everything will continue working normally on your existing sites.

Thank you so much for your answer.
At now I understand!
That is really fair if I will upgrade version that I will pay only the difference!
Last question: It is possible renew it but not every year but for example after 4 years.
Skip renew for every year.
Thank you
The way our system is set up, you can renew at 50% while your subscription is valid (within the subscription year). When you do that, we add another year to the account expiration, starting from the original expiration date. After that time, we offer to buy a new account or upgrade to Lifetime.

The Blog version is intended for simpler blogs, where a simple translation workflow is fine. The CMS version allows you to translate everything in WordPress and use more robust translation workflows.
You can start with the Blog version ($29). If you need the rest of the functionality, you can always upgrade and pay only the difference.
Hi
I understand that I can update from “WPML Blog” to “WPML CMS” with just paying the differents. Is it the same from “WPML Blog” to “WPML Lifetime CMS”?
Greetings from Germay
Marc
Yes, same thing. For any upgrade we only ask for the difference.
Hi,
I just bought a theme called “Directory Theme”. It is not in the theme compatibility listing but I found a page in the WPML support where in someone bought the same theme. But at the end, we don’t know if WPML works with.
http://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-wp-directory-theme-by-ait-themes/
I visited the website and the multilingual function is OK now. But I m not sure it use WPML.
http://firmap.sk/
Someone could confirm?
Thank you
The best thing would be for our theme-compatibility team to review this theme together with AIT people. As their client, can you ask them and see if they’re interested too? If so, we’ll be very happy to set it up and get started.
OK Amir, I m gonna ask them.
But is there a way to check if the website (http://firmap.sk/) use WPML for the translation? May be in in the source code…??? At the end in the home page the link to the flag is :
src=”http://firmap.szia.sk/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/res/flags/hu.png”
sitepress-multilingual-cms is your plugin?
Because it works and it is the same theme as me.
thank you.
I’d previously asked about your Buddypress compatibility and you told me that you were waiting for BP2.0 release.
So, …………………………… we’re here 🙂
How you doing ?
We’re getting there. A new version of BuddyPress Multilingual went to QA, but BuddyPress is moving pretty fast and we’ll need to update it again now. We have a bit of a backlog with WordPress 3.9 updates too.
If I purchase the Multi-Lingual CMS and after a year I pay the $39 renewal fee, will I get the new updates for the new year?
The yearly renewal is needed to keep getting our upgrades and support. If you don’t renew, things will continue working normally and will not just stop working on your sites. Renewal is important to keep getting new versions and have access to our support.
Hello,
I am building a multisite multilanguage blog. Using WPML plugin, what is the best :
1) Do a multisite with one blog for each language (so if 3 languages, each blog has 3 issues, but all blogs on same multisite install)
2) Make a multisite install for each language
Thanks!
