I want to ask about WPML license.
I’m a freelancer and WordPress Theme developer. My clients want to have multilingual websites. If I will buy WPML (Multilingual CMS) can I use it on my clients websites (which I will create)?
Simply: “unlimited websites” on purchase page means “unlimited websites which you own” or “unlimited websites which you can create for clients and sell them -> wpml will be included with WP theme (TGM Plugin activation) in same way like ACF plugin”?
If I will create theme for themeforest can I include WPML (with TGM) with theme or buyer should buy their own WPML license?
I just want to start create multilingual websites and I don’t know who can buy and use WPML:)
Yes, you can use WPML for all the sites that you build for yourself and for your different clients. These don’t need to be sites that you own, but sites that you build.
However, you can use WPML for sites that you build and not included in themes that you distribute. If you write themes which you distribute on Themeforest (or anywhere else), you should not include WPML in them. It’s a great idea to make the themes compatible with WPML and you can use an affiliate like to recommend WPML and get credited for it, but you should not include WPML in themes.
We are a national company from Canada, so we would like our company to also be in French.
Since there is no demo of this program, I would like to ask if the french version of the website could be set up to look like this: http://www.ulscanada.com/
We like the open of clicking “English” or “French” before entering the site.
Yes, you can do this with WPML. To implement this opening page, you will need to set both languages in different ‘folders’ (/en/, /fr/). Then, WPML lets you choose what to display for the site’s root URL. You can assign to it a WordPress page or a static HTML file.
I am thinking to get this program for my company website. However, I am not sure if it is what we are looking for. If I wanted to get a refund, what would the process be?
I do not see a contact number on this website.
Sorry, I thought that you need a refund right now. If you buy WPML and are not happy for whatever reason, you can always get a refund, by filling the form on this page: http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Hello, I’d like to know if I Write a post in spanish and I don’t want that post to be translated to english (which is the second language I Want to use) what solution gives me WPML? The problem is that I will not translate every post… thanks!
WPML lets you choose. By default, your site will display only translated content. Meaning, if a post is not translated to English, it will not appear in English. You can also choose to display all posts. In this case, if there is translation, the translation will display. If there is no translation, the original content will display.
I’m the author of the Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator for WordPress plugin and having some compatibility issues with WPML. It breaks the query which is used to select the posts for the sitemap. Could you please provide me a test version of the plugin so I can check a way around it? Thanks!
Thanks for reaching out. I also saw your application to our Go Global program and I asked our site admin to expedite approving it. Of course we very much want to have WPML and Google Sitemaps Generator working correctly.
I’m working on a bilingual website for my client (en, pl) and I would like to use WPML to create and maintain translations. However, our main concern is comment merging.
I’ve seen few people asking about comment merging on your support page, but it relies on an outdated and manually modified plugin. Could you clarify please if it’s working or perhaps suggest some other solution?
We would really like to have bilingual blogs posted on our website, but it would require to have comments continuity between translations.
I understand what you’re saying, but the comments merging solution is problematic. We really want this to be available, but WPML’s architecture makes it difficult. When you try to merge comments from different languages, it requires many SQL queries and long PHP code. This takes a lot from the server. I don’t expect that we will have it in WPML soon.
What you are describing is common to most sites. Most people translate some pages and few blog posts. We do the same. Your site will not have any broken links anywhere. The navigation will only include translated items. WPML lets you maintain menus per language and also helps synchronize between them. Translated pages will link to other translated pages, if they exist. You can choose to display only translated blog posts or all.
My website will be in 2 languages, some will sign up in English and some will sign up in Chinese.
1. Will WMPL translate those information directly? So that English visitors can see the new sign-up that are in both English and Chinese.
2. For the comments that are left in English, will they be automatically translated into Chinese without human input? and vice versa ( we understand the translation may not be great)
What are you using the the sign-up? Is this the default WordPress new-account registration, or done via a plugin?
Sorry, but WPML doesn’t translate comments. English comments will display on the English content and Chinese comments will appear in the Chinese content. At this moment, we don’t have a solution to automatically copy comments between translations.
I am writing today on behalf of one of my colleagues in regards to the WPML Plugin.
We currently have a blog which is managed through WordPress and we would like to know if WPML would be an appropriate option for our site: http://blog.webcertain.com/
We have an internal translation agency who are planning on translating the actual posts but what we need to know is if the WPML will allow us to translate the navigation, comments section, etc. with ease?
We were told that static content such as the navigation cannot be controlled by WPML but we’d like to be sure before we go ahead and purchase the plugin.
If you could please let me know then I would greatly appreciate any advice you have.
Nice site. Sure, WPML should work fine for you. WPML lets you translate everything including navigation (the menu), sidebar, etc. You don’t need to ‘translate’ comments. Comments will appear in the correct language.
Your translators will have several options for how to translate this content. They can work inside WordPress, in WPML’s Translation Editor, or even in desktop programs using XLIFF files.
One thing to check is that your theme wraps all texts in gettext calls. This is standard practice for all WordPress themes. If this is true, you will also be able to translate all the texts in the theme using WPML’s String Translation.
From what i can see there’s a rather important restriction i cant see a way around.
So, i want to launch the Canadian version of my website at /ca/ however, because it’s language is English as well there is no option to “select” Canada, which is already the default option. So, what is the way around this via WPML?
No problem. Go to WPML->Languages and click on ‘Edit Languages’. There, you can create a custom language, such as Canadian English (if that’s how you want to call it). Give it the language code that you want (ca). Will this be OK for you?
Indeed, I’ve figured that out. However, it presents a dilemma as “ca” is already taken, and i expect that issue to come up more than once too. Is there a way to remove others in place of using “ca” for Canada?
Additionally, my colleague and i have one final hurdle to overcome if you can try and help. So, for search engine reasons, we want to make a lot of our website accessible to Canada e.g website.com/ca/ however because it’s the same language, pages like website.com/random-news-article/ do not need to be changed to website.com/ca/random-news-article/ – right? So, what we’d want to do is let’s say convert half of the website to /ca/ but allow the user to still access and click on /random-news-article/ in the deafult language – is that possible? Additional to that, and this is where it’s complex, if a person is using the /ca/ then clicks /random-news-article/ will they be able to click on another page called /ca/online/ or would it revert to just /online/ as their last destination was a default language page?
Hopefully that makes sense, but it’s a very awkward situation for us to try and figure out.
The renewal at 50% is available while your account is still valid. We send reminder emails 30 days and 3 days before accounts expire. After accounts expire, you can buy a new account at full price or upgrade to a Lifetime account. When you upgrade to a Lifetime account, you only need to pay the difference between its cost and what you already paid before.
Sorry to post this here, but I can’t get to the forum as that’s my problem: I can’t get to the forum. I am logged into my account, but when I click on the support forum I see the message that says “you must be logged in to create new topics.” When I click on the “see your posts” link under “my account,” I get a 404 error. What am I missing here?
The forum access problem might come from old cookies or history in your browser. Try to clear the browser cache and delete cookies. Then, log in again to wpml.org and you should be able to post in the forum normally. Let me know if you need any help.
Hi there,
At the moment my website is Dtuch only… and I use a plugin to translate it to a couple of other languages on the fly (Google Translate). It is not perfect, but saves a lot of time…
A couple of questions:
– can your Plugin also make use of Google Translate?
– if not, what do your translation services cost?
Thanks,

WPML doesn’t interface to automatic Google translation. Google is pretty clear about the drawbacks of using their automated translation as your content. It’s fine to dynamically get translation from Google for readers, but Google doesn’t want you to save and serve their translation from your database.
If you need help with translation, you can get it for around $0.10 USD / word. WPML lets you translate yourself (free) or get work from professional translators (paid).
i am rebuilding a website for a client. I will be building it on a different domain name. Basically their name.info and then move it to their dot com site when completed. Is this an issue for a single license purchase since it starts on one name and finishes on another. NOTE: the first site is temporary only during the rebuild.
No problem. You only need to buy WPML once and you can use it for all your sites and sites that you build for your clients. This includes development and production sites.
Very interested in the Multi-currency support but i would like to know if the functionallity of this plugin would meet our need.
Currently, we offer a subscription membership on our site (arrierotv.com) utilizing Paid Memberships Pro, but the lack of features and integration has pushed to to seek integration with WooCommerce.
We are currently testing our new site, which works as follows:
1. There is only one membership that may be purchased @ $5.99/mo. We sell to customers in the US, Canada and Mexico.
2. We would like to keep the $5.99 USD price for US and Canada customers but we would like to have a set price of $59 MXN for Mexican customer.
3. Our checkout page utilized one payment gateway for US and Canada customers that charges in USD and a different payment gateway for Mexican customers that charges in MXN. Gateways are automatically selected when the user chooses their country in the checkout page.
My question is the following:
Since the customer would not select the product currency in the shop page (because they do not have access to it) could the price of the product change to MXN in the checkout page when the user selects his/her country? If this would be possible. That would be great!
Right now, the multicurrency feature in WooCommerce Multilingual (our plugin) only works for sites in multiple languages. Are you looking for a multilingual site, or a site in one language and multiple currencies?
Otherwise, the currency features that you’re asking about, including the option to limit checkout options per country exist in our plugin.
hi there,
we are looking for a currency conversion plugin for the estate theme of woo. User should be able to select his/her currency and prices then change to the selected currency sitewide.
Do you have a plugin that works like this as woocommerce is not installed. Just the woo framework.
Hello,
i am intersted to purchase WPNL to translate my WP website but have the following questione befor purchase:
– as I understand, your WPML works with multisite WP installing also with different domain names (eg. englishsite.com and italiansite.com) is this correct?
– I use the following plugIns on WP: Templatic Tevolution, templatic directory theme with google map and templatic event plugIn. Are tehy working with your translation WPML?
You can use WPML on multisite installs, but you don’t need multisite for sites in multiple languages. You can use a simple WordPress site, add WPML and have it run in multiple language. This also includes displaying different languages in different domains. WPML will do this for you on a simple WordPress site.
I’m not 100% sure about the status of Templatic themes and plugins. I know that Templatic developers have worked on compatibility with WPML, but I don’t know if they completed this process and the exact current status.
If you are their client, can you ask them about the compatibility? I hate to throw you from one place to the other, but we just don’t know what they completed.
I want to purchase your multilingual CMS for $79 but when I try to access it I get a blank page with just this: “To upgrade your subscription, please visit your account page.”
For the other 2 options i can enter my card details and make the purchase but of this one, the one that i want, I can’t.
We have an extension for BuddyPress, but it requires an update. A new and highly modified version of BuddyPress was released recently and we didn’t yet manage to update our glue plugin for it.
You don’t really need anything for bbpress. We use bbpress on our own sites for support. We created several forums and use each of them for a different language.
I’m not 100% sure about Events Manager. Events Manager developers have a complementary WPML account from us, but I don’t know what they did with it. If you are their client, can you ask them if they eventually added multilingual support to their product?
Do you have a live demo that can be used to see the functionality of WPML before purchase?
Thanks.
Sorry, but we don’t have demo or trial versions of WPML. If you buy WPML and you’re not completely happy with it, we will refund your order.
What is the process in order to get a refund?
There is no contact number posted on the website.
Thank you,
Sofia

Thank you for reply. Now everything is clear:)
I will use WPML (plugin) only for ‘special’ websites for my clients.
I won’t include WPML in templates for themeforest/which I will sell to more than one client ( ofcourse I will create this templates WPML ready:) ).
Thank you for your help.

Exactly! Thanks for understanding our position.

Yes, you can upgrade from the Blog to the CMS version later. When you do that, you only need to pay the difference ($50).

Hello,
I am preparing a new dual language site (EN/FR)
All main pages (listed in Top menu) will be translated, but some articles (blog posts) will only exist in one language or the other.
This means that the site will be slightly different between the two languages.
Is this ok with WPML? Will there be broken links or anything that would affect the SEO?
Thank you

Amir, you seem to have ignored my last question?
Can you help me or?
Is the plugin 3.9 compatible?

We have a beta version for WPML, which works well with WordPress 3.9. It’s going to become the production version on Monday.
Hi,
I would like to renew my subscription but all i can see in my account is the buy (at full price) and not renew?

The renewal at 50% is available while your account is still valid. We send reminder emails 30 days and 3 days before accounts expire. After accounts expire, you can buy a new account at full price or upgrade to a Lifetime account. When you upgrade to a Lifetime account, you only need to pay the difference between its cost and what you already paid before.

Sorry, we don’t have anything for this. Maybe look in the WooCommerce extensions library.

For the other 2 options i can enter my card details and make the purchase but of this one, the one that i want, I can’t.
Please tell me how to fix this.

We had a blank account with your email. I’m not sure how it got there. Can you try to buy again? It should work this time.
Hi again,
Sorry… but does it work with buddypress and bbpress? and the plugin “Events Manager”?

We have an extension for BuddyPress, but it requires an update. A new and highly modified version of BuddyPress was released recently and we didn’t yet manage to update our glue plugin for it.
