I am building a company website using a wordpress theme from theme forest. I am concern about the multi language part of it. WPLN looks like a great option but I would like to know what could happen if it gets discontinued or there is no more support for it within the years as usually happen for many plug ins. or what would happen if the company for example forget to pay license year renewal WPLN will delete everything?
There are around 500,000 commercial websites running WPML. Our support team consists of 10 experts and we have an overall team of 46 people right now. We’ve been here since 2007 and we’re always hiring. I don’t think that you should worry about WPML disappearing.
WPML license renewal is needed to receive upgrades and support from us. If you don’t renew, your site will continue to run normally, but you will not be able to upgrade and get our help.
Does WPML support the translation of the navigation menus? I looked at some other plugins and it does not seem possible. I am looking at using wordpress with the gorilla theme Car Dealer and the site must be in French and English.
I am fully interested in buying the plugin, but I have two questions before:
1.- How it works with seo? I am actually working with Seo plugin by Yoast.
2.- I have seen an offer of this plugin in another website, it doesn’t seem a trick or something but I just want to assured that you have an agreement with them in order to know if it is even legal and not to throw my money away. I will write the link but i don’t know if it is ok for you and I would rather to do it by private if you want it.
1. WPML works great with Yoast SEO plugin. You will be able to translate all SEO meta fields, per post, page and for the entire site.
2. WPML is only available for purchase from us from this site. We don’t have any resellers and representatives. There are hacked versions available for free or for a low cost on other sites. You should be very careful with these offers. You can’t tell what will be included in these ‘discounted’ bundles. Do you want to install untrusted code on your and your clients’ sites?
I have had a non-profit license (username rocco.vanderveer) and have a few sites still running WPML. I need to do some work and wanted to download the latest version but my account has been expired. Can you extend it for me or do I have to reapply for the non-profit license?
I would like to make a multilingual website using yootheme and wordpress.
Now I came across wpml and think that would be the best solution – however I am really confuesd after investigating compatibility of yootheme, their widgetkit plugin and wpml.
1. I need to know if I can translate their widgets in the widgetkit and implement them on my website. Now I do not care if I can do this in wpml directly or if I need to translate the widget within the widgetkit and then assign the widget to o a menu
2. I see some people (reading your forum) using widgetkit plugin and yootheme themes on their website and it is compatible with wpml
3. I see some people in your forum that claim it is not compatible…
4. Reading your compatible plugins and themes list I cannot find yootheme or widgetkit on it…
5. I have worked with yootheme for years with Joomla and believe they are a great company always using latest standards – and would be surprised if their themes or plugins are not compatible with wpml – as on their site they state that yootheme is compatible with wpml.org (bottom of page) http://www.yootheme.com/themes/wordpress
I am confused and I think anybody else reading information in forums will be and even more if one site say they are compatible and the other says no…
Conclusion: Please let me know if Yoothem Widgetkit Plugin and Themes are compatible with wpml or not.
But in your compatibility list I cannot find the company Yootheme.
In some of your forum posts people seem to have problems to integrate wpml in Yootheme and others however seem to be using it including Yootheme’s plugin Widgetkit.
Now before buying WPML I would like to know if it is compatible with yootheme themes including the widgetkit plugin they have for wordpress.
Hi Sven,
yes, your are right. You will not see Yoothem in our WPML themes compatibility list. We removed it from our theme compatibility page since the YooThemes authors separated the functionality in their Yootheme theme and their Widgetkit plugin.
Thanks a lot for your answer – you can delete the second one I asked – I could not find the first one and wrote it again so it is double…
I just got an answer from one of the developers Hendrik:
“Hello Sven,
thank you for your mail!
The wordpress themes and widgetkit are compatible with WPML.
Most of the issues i see in the support center are really old and there have been updates since then.”
So maybe you can add them to the compatibility list again which helps you and yootheme… and people will not have to ask the support of both companies before they can buy the theme or your plugin – and save a lot of time 🙂
Hi Darya,
If you already purchased your WPML license, you will see the estimated costs for each of your WordPress post/page in your WordPress dashboard.
Since all human translations are done by our iCanLocalize.com service, please contact them directly to ask more specific questions: http://www.icanlocalize.com/site/about-us/contact-us/
If a translation reads weird in another language is it possible to override it manually with something else? Or does the plugin only support auto-translation and once it’s in place you can’t edit it at all?
Dear Paul,
WPML doesn’t create auto-translations. WPML provides and interefece to create your WordPress post/pages (and all other elements) to insert your translations for other language versions. It’s totally up to you what exactly you will insert there. You just create a new version of your post/page but in a diffrent language. It’s always best to provide human made translations. Google will appreciate it.
I want to check in and make sure the contact form on your Non-Profits page is working correctly?
I submitted an inquiry on http://wpml.org/purchase/non-profits/ regarding a WPML subscription for my non-profit on May 27 and then again on June 2, but I haven’t heard back from y’all yet.
Please let me know if you have not received the inquiry, and I will send along our information and 501(c)(3) documentation, etc.
Hello!
Yes, the form works correctly. We are getting tons of such requests so maybe it is still waiting in the queue. But sure, I will check if we received your inquiry with all needed documentation and will let you know.
Hi. I have my account expired now and want to RENEW my account, paying 15 USD but I don’t see the option of renewal on my account page … It was told before I bought the account year ago that I will get notification letter before account will be expired with the details how to renew my account, but I didn’t get anything …
Please help, how to renew it as at the moment I see only one button – “buy new account”
Our system automatically sends reminder emails 30 days and 3 days before accounts expire. Since we send a large number of these emails, sometimes they hit SPAM folders. We try very much to avoid it, but it’s not all under our control.
If your account has expired, you might want to consider our Lifetime option. A Lifetime account gives you access to all WPML components (the Multilingual CMS version) for life. This includes support and upgrades.
If you decide to upgrade to the Lifetime account, you will only need to pay the difference between what you paid already and the Lifetime account.
But I don’t want to upgrade to Lifetime and pay 166 USD. For my small blog there is no sence to do this and buy full version…
According this page http://wpml.org/compare-between-wpml-versions/ I can buy “Account renewal per year” 15 USD and I want to pay now 15 USD to renew my account but I dont see WHERE I can make this …
Hi I have one question regarding product Multilingual pack (79$). What does it mean Account renewal per year? That means, that if I’ll install this once on my page after one year it will stop working and ask for additional money?
The renewal for WPML is only needed to receive support and upgrades. Of course we want you to renew, but this is up to you. If you don’t renew, your existing sites will continue to work without any change. You will not have access to new versions or to our support.
Alternatively, you can buy the Lifetime account, which gives you support and upgrades for life, without any renewal costs.
I have a question regarding your automatic language detection prior to my purchase.
Our site and traffic will predominately be mobile. What I would like to know is if the automatic detection will work on Android and iOS browsers as most don’t have cookies enabled.
If not the site is directed at the Argentina market and in Spanish. We are english speaking but I really only need the content to be created in spanish. Is there a simple way that we can post in english and the content is automatically converted to spanish and that that is what all users see, the spanish version. If this is the case then I really don’t need the autodetect.
Browser language detection uses the locale header in the browser and not anything else. I’m pretty sure that browsers on Android and iOS set these headers the same as desktop versions. At least my phone keeps redirecting me to localized content on other sites. This detection is done for the language setting and not for the IP or country.
Please note that WPML doesn’t automatically translate your content. WPML lets you run a site in multiple language. You can translate yourself or send content for off-site translation. WPML will display the translations that appear on your site. It doesn’t translate the content.
Thanks for the answers. However I am a little confused. You said that WPML does not do translation. I understand it allows for scheduling of native speakers to do actual translations etc and manages that process. But in your demo video it appeared that you could select on language and auto convert that to another. Also, you sales content specifies 40 included languages by default. Please help me understand better. If your site does actually do a translation like Google Translate or not.
Hello. About the renewal per year… What does it happen if I don’t renew my account? Will my translated posts stop working until I renew it, or does it just mean I won’t get any support and won’t be able to make upgrades? Thank you very much.
The renewal for WPML is only needed to receive support and upgrades. Of course we want you to renew, but this is up to you. If you don’t renew, your existing sites will continue to work without any change. You will not have access to new versions or to our support.

licencing@REMOVED
It should have been spelt as follows:
licensing@REMOVED
Could you please help me change this so we can get the email with our password? We purchased the plugin on June 5th, yesterday.
Gosh I am pissed off with you guys. how can I renew my account? willing to pay again, but you make it sooo difficult. why there is no phone support? your website sucks, your forum sucks. purchase your plugin a year ago, can you tell me how to re-purchase and only pay 39 dollars instead of 79dollars?
To renew your account, please log in. At the top-right, you will see the renewal button. Have you received the two renewal reminder emails that we’ve sent you? They were sent 30 days and 3 days before the account expiration time.
hey guys, how can i access my expried downloaded version?
cannot find it as the link sends me back to buy the latest version. really unfair!
just want to access my old version!!!! aint got no cash for another download…
any help appreciated.

Yes, it will work fine with hierarchical product categories. Product categories are translated and their hierarchy is maintained throughout the process. WPML lets you translate all product fields, including the standard and any custom fields that you add.
I’m going to build our corporate website. I would like to use your plugin, but I don’t want to use ICanLocalize service.
Am I allowed to modify plugin code to be able to add functionality to zip XLIFF files and download one file? I saw there is possibility do get XLIFF files on email, but I would like to automate the process.
Do you need any other functionality than this module offers? It’s a solid module and pretty popular. Sure you can edit that code, but I really suggest against it. Your edits will easily break when we update WPML. We release minor versions every few weeks and major versions every couple of months.
We want to use WPML with WP-Multisite.

Hi,
i have read that i can upgrade from blog to CMS. But can i upgrade from CMS to lifetime in.. lets say, the first year? without paying double?
Right. You can upgrade to the Lifetime account, from either ‘Blog’ or ‘CMS’. When you upgrade, we only ask for the difference.
Hi guys,
I am fully interested in buying the plugin, but I have two questions before:

Hi Amir,
I have had a non-profit license (username rocco.vanderveer) and have a few sites still running WPML. I need to do some work and wanted to download the latest version but my account has been expired. Can you extend it for me or do I have to reapply for the non-profit license?

Sorry fro being so slow. I’ve fixed it for you. Enjoy.

Hi Sven,
yes, your are right. You will not see Yoothem in our WPML themes compatibility list. We removed it from our theme compatibility page since the YooThemes authors separated the functionality in their Yootheme theme and their Widgetkit plugin.
As the Yoothem theme authors say in this page:
http://www.yootheme.com/themes/documentation/getting-started/using-warp-themes-with-wpml
all Warp themes are fully compatible with WPML but there is no clear statement about Widgetkit-WPML compatibility.
All I know that they said: “The Widgetkit + WPML issue is a known feature request and it is on our to-do list.”. But it was a year ago.

Hi Sven,
that’s cool! I will contact yooTheme team directly to ask them to join our compatibility programm (officially). Thanks for your good work!
Hi!
I just wanted to ask, where can I see the prices for the human translation?
As far as I understood, you offer this service, right?

Hi,
We want to use WPML with WP-Multisite.
E.g. We will be having multiple site running using single wordpress installation.
1. abc.com with subdomains – fr.abc.com, en.abc.com with 2 lang options (fr and en)
2. xyz.com with subdomains – nl.xyz.com, de.xyz.com and it.xyz.com (3 languages)
Now my questions is whether WPML can show me separate language options per site (abc.com shows 2 language options and xyz.con show 3 language options).
Yes, this is perfectly possible. Each site in a multi-site behaves independently.
Hello,
Can you handle this kind of situation?
I am unable to make some changes to permalinks on my website.
I tried to find a solution, no success to date.
I am my original version:
http://www.mysite.com/fr/services
On my english version, I am unable to have or edit my permalink like this:
http://www.mysite.com/en/services
Instead, I must have
http://www.mysite.com/en/services-2 which is really not convinent.
Can I handle this kind of situation with WPML?
Thanks
Hi,
I am intending to purchase WPML very soon (in the next few days), but I have one more question: if I choose German as my main language (I am a german native) and English as my second language, do I have the chance to add one or even a few more languages in a couple of months?
I would like to add Spanish then and even later maybe French and Italian. At the moment my languages skills in these three languages aren’t good enough but I will be practicing to improve them.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Kind regards
Vanessa
if i buy any of the package (Multilingual Blog / Multilingual CMS / Multilingual CMS Lifetime). I can use the plugin for all my client website? One license can use for many website?
You can use WPML for all your client sites, no matter what package you buy from us. The benefit in the Lifetime package, is that you get support and updates for life without a yearly renewal fee.
