Hi,
I am back as I am having problems with one of my plugins.
The English page showing Technical Datasheet, it shows 145 documents (mixed in English and in French) it is suppoused to be like that. But your plugin is forcing translating these documents into french. creating conflict and not showing any documents at the French page (Fiches Techniques)
How to deactivate to translate these documents from English to French? I want just the menu to be translated which is, but I dont want the documents names or documents it self to be translated, I want all original documents 145 docs to be showing as a list exactly as per english Technical datasheet page.

Hi,

Are the documents set up as a Custom Post Type (CPT)? If so, you can configure the CPT to use a fallback language, which will display the original version whenever a translation is not available.

If the documents are part of the regular content, they need to be translated accordingly. Skipping them isn’t how the system is designed to work. The only exception is if you duplicate them as a translation in Translation Management, which allows the original content to appear in other languages until a proper translation is created:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content

The "fallback" can be configured as described here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-posts/#cant-find-your-custom-post-types

Best regards,
Marcel

Still doesnt work.... these are PDF documents created to be listed

please see page hidden link

the same list of documents in both languages should be showing on the french page hidden link. doesnt show the list.. its creating conflict

I contacted the plugin support from that listing page and they said that it is a conflict with WPML, as before I installed the WPML page, it was showing the same list on the french page.

Please help find a solution here

Hi,

I would eventually also need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.

✙ Please add the Links to the […] Edit Screen, the Page/Post where you insert the […] and the corresponding Front End Page/Screen

Best Regards,
Marcel

Hi,

This is not really a conflict, this behavior is expected.

You have a piece of content (page, post, document, or any other custom post type), and WPML expects a translated version of it, since it tries to load the translated database ID for that content.

Have you tried configuring the custom post type to use "fallback" to the default language? At the moment it is not enabled:
hidden link. You can also deactivate translation of that specific CPT completely on WPML -> Settings.

You can also duplicate all existing posts to French via Translation Management. Currently, there are no translations saved.

Could you please confirm that you have tested those options?

Best regards,
Marcel

I have changed as per described above... I spoke to the Document Library app support and they said the problem is with WPML, it shouldnt force translate the app information documents

Please help me find a solution it has been more than 2 weeks with this issue.

All I want is for WPML do not translate the plugin content lists and leave both languages the same with the 145 documents lists to be reach on both pages. hidden link and hidden link.

But I see the menu from English to french is not syncronizing only that speciafic page hidden link. and when I am on the french page it appears only french flag as before used to be 2 flags

Please help me find a solution, I have already grant access as Admin for you to work on it, I am tired of trying different things and do not see any changes

thanks for now,
Elisangela

I have had probolems with my domain... and reported that to Hostinger. They replied:

The domain switch likely happened because someone changed your WordPress Site URL/Home URL settings or ran a search/replace for the preview domain. This can occur during site migration, plugin updates, or manual edits.

p-lease DO NOT CHANGE MY Domain abchimie.com to run any tests.... your colleague from WPML did help me in the past without any issues.

Hi Elisangela,

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, the explanation you provided is still a bit unclear to me.

I spoke to the Document Library app support and they said the problem is with WPML, it shouldn’t force translate the app information documents.

Our plugin is designed to enforce translation of content, as this is the expected behavior of a translation plugin such as WPML or similar tools. The only way to exclude specific content from translation is the method I mentioned earlier, by adjusting the Custom Post Type translation settings.

So far, I have not received clear confirmation on whether this change was applied, or what exactly did not work on your side. Could you please confirm if you also tried the duplication workflow I described in my previous message, and what result you got?

The domain switch likely happened because someone changed your WordPress Site URL/Home URL settings or ran a search/replace for the preview domain. This can occur during site migration, plugin updates, or manual edits.

Could you clarify what exact issue you experienced with the URL change? Modifying the site URL would normally require either direct server/SSH access or the use of a search-replace plugin, and neither of these actions were performed (no server access). Was a resave of the permalinks performed by any chance? This could also trigger URL-related changes in some cases. I tried to check your settings but the credentials are not active anymore.

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi Elisangela,

Thank you for the information and for creating the new user account.

We did not change any URLs. Without SSH/FTP access, the only way to modify URLs would be by overwriting the values under **Settings → General**, which would not make sense in this case and was not requested, nor we need that for WPML. There was no need to change any URLs, so it is likely that something else caused the issue. Unfortunately, I do not have enough information at the moment to determine exactly what happened.

Regarding the information you received from the Document Library App support: this does not seem to apply to your situation, so it does not help us find a solution. Your use case is different. In your setup, page translations are effectively being forced because translation was not disabled in the Post Type settings, as I described earlier. Since the plugin is designed to work this way, it is difficult to provide a correct solution if we rely on guidance that does not match this type of configuration.

At the moment, the CPT translation is disabled. On the page in question, the shortcode `[doc_library]` is added without any filtering for specific content, and the same shortcode is used on the translated page. With translation disabled in the CPT settings, no translation should be active, yet the output is still different.

I changed the CPT setting to **fallback** and verified that there is no French translation present (it shows 0). The output is still identical, which indicates that the issue is not caused by the translation settings.

However, I noticed something important while checking your setup:
* hidden link returns a 404 in French
* The URL you provided as the French version
hidden link
does not have an English translation linked to it.

This means you do not actually have a translation for that page. Instead, you currently have two separate entries in the database.

The original French page appears to be in the trash:
hidden link

Please restore this page so we can test again. It seems there was a misunderstanding, and the content at
hidden link
was assumed to be the translation of
hidden link
but that is not the case, since the original translation was deleted.

This also explains the menu issue you mentioned:

> Currently, I am also noticing another issue: the language menu is not synchronizing correctly on the French page (hidden link). When accessing that page, only the French flag is visible, whereas previously both language flags were displayed.

This behavior is expected because the pages are not linked translations but two separate entries. Please restore the deleted page and let me know once this is done, then we can continue testing the Document issue, as the frontend output might change then already.

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

thanks for your support... I have done as per your instructions and the page is restored and activated so was automatically the Menu sync English-French. All sorted

BUT, only one thing missing which I believe it is to do with WPML.

Please see screenshots of French and English pages.

The product list on the French page is missing

The product list on the English page is showing

What coudl be the mistake?? I tried to check everywhere I can't find why... This is not the plugin library document... it is more to do with WPML settings on that specific space?

Appreciate your help on this matter, the ID and PW to access the site remains still the same,

appreciate your support to finalise this last task.

Best regards,
Elisangela

Hi Elisangela,

There isn’t a specific setting to control this. In this case, WPML isn’t displaying a translation—it simply loads the content from the original CPT.

I’ve set up a sandbox environment where you can reproduce the issue. Please install the Docs plugin here:
hidden link

Then try adding 1–2 entries with the same configuration. Are you able to reproduce the issue?

If so, I’ll forward this to our compatibility team. They may also reach out to the plugin authors if any changes are needed on their side.

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I wont be able to install the plugin as it is a paid version and only works with the keycode.

Would you please contact the plugin support? I have been in communications with them on :

support+canned.response@barn2.com

and support@barn2.com

Plugin Support Request - Document Library Pro

Their support asked me this:

Hello Elisa,

Could you please share the response from the WPML team regarding the issue with the titles?

Hi Marcel,

this is the Barn2 Support reply:

Hi Elisa,

I’m not entirely sure but If the suggestion is to add our own license, I’ve already tried that but still can’t get the setup working. Here’s what I’m seeing: hidden link

I also attempted to log into our WPML account, but the email doesn’t seem to be recognized, so we’ll need to look into that separately.
