[Resolved] Login required to edit English and French with different domain names
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client has a website with different domain names for each language and encounters an issue where they have to reconnect to the website backend each time they change the language. Solution: We recommend going to WPML > Settings > Domain per language option. At the bottom of this page, make sure to select the Auto sign-on and sign out users from all domains option. This should resolve the issue of having to log in again when switching languages.
If this solution does not seem relevant to your situation, please open a new support ticket with us.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Our website has two different domain names depending on the language of the website.
If the website is in French, we go to museeduski.com. If the website is in English, we go to skimuseum.com.
When we make changes with the Flatsome visual editor, we have to reconnect to the website backend each time we change language.
from WPML > Settings > Domain per language option, in the bottom, make sure to select Auto sign on and sign out users from all domains, image attached.

Hello,
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Our Debugging Procedures
I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.

Hey there,
I tried to replicate the issue but on my end the site is working as expected without logging me out, please check:
hidden link
Can you please try to log out from both sites at hidden link and hidden link, clear your browser cache and cookies and then try again to see if the issue gets fixed for you as well?
I tested again by clearing the cache and cookies, as well as in private browsing, then on another browser. The problem persists for me.
Several of us have the same problem, while another person manages to edit in English without any problem.
I don't know what explains the difference...

Hello there,
I noticed that inside WPML -> Langues, the option 'Valider lors de l'enregistrement' was returning 'not valid' when I tried to save the settings.
Server side cache and other caching systems in general can interfere with 'a domain per language' type of language setting.
I purged the server cache available within cPanel and inside the wp-admin dashboard and now when I try to save the language options, the domains are properly validated.
Can you please repeat the tests to check if you're able to edit your content in the secondary language now?
I performed a few more tests it does seem OK on my end: hidden link
If the issue remains, is it possible for you to get in touch with the hosting provider support and ask them to provide you with the HTTP access and mainly error logs of one of the days the issue occurred so we can check it?
