Background of the issue:
I am currently managing two versions of my website: a live site at hidden link and a development site at hidden link. After activating the license key for my live site, the development URL has become inaccessible or hidden. I need the license key to work with both environments for proper testing and updates.
Symptoms:
The development URL hidden link has become inaccessible or hidden after activating the license key for the live site.
Questions:
Could you please assist me in resolving the issue of the development URL being inaccessible after activating the license key for the live site?
As I understand, both my development and live sites were mistakenly registered as production environments. This seems to be causing conflicts, as the license does not differentiate between the two, restricting certain functionalities like translation. Please can you check and resolve this issue ??
Thank you for sharing the details. The best and quickest course of action here is to start from scratch. Please follow these steps:
1. Go to wpml.org/account/sites and remove both websites from the list;
2. Re-register one of them as development or production, depending on what you wish;
3. Log in to that website's admin panel, go to Plugins > Add New > Commercial and click on "Unregister WPML from this site";
4. In the same page, register WPML with the newly generated key you created on step #2;
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for the other website;
Please note that this has no impact on your translations. Let me know is that solves your issue.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.
IMPORTANT
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
