This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was unable to see translated media in WPML > Translation and had issues with product visibility and thumbnail updates on the shop page. Additionally, there was confusion about adding English product URLs and managing document translations and deletions.
Solution:
1. We identified a conflict with the 'TinyPNG - JPEG, PNG & WebP image compression' plugin, which affected the immediate display of translated images. We recommended disabling this plugin temporarily to verify if the issue persists and suggested updating the plugin or contacting its support for further assistance.
2. To address the product visibility issue, we advised editing and republishing the English product, which resolved the thumbnail display on the shop page.
3. For managing media translations, we enabled the option 'Add separate download files for translations when translating products' in WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Settings. This allowed the client to add different files for translated products. We also noted that once media is uploaded in a specific language, its language setting cannot be changed; it must be deleted and re-uploaded in the correct language.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hello

I have installed WPML Media Translation because I have pdf products that need to be different in each translated product. Right now, I cannot see anything when I open WPML > Translation !

Here is an example product : hidden link

This product needs to have the english version pdf available in Product View.
How can I do this please.

See attached image of Guide First Aid For Lemon Trees.
We tried two, also Personalized advice.

Did you do another media setting, because the one that worked, was the one where you added a little flag.

Hi Monique,

I was able to update the media for Guide First Aid For Lemon Trees and I'll share a quick video with the step-by-step after approach the issue that caused it not to work for you.

In my local tests I was running your site in minimum environment, with only essential plugins enabled, that's probably why I didn't catch this issue on the fly.

It looks like an issue with the plugin TinyPNG - JPEG, PNG & WebP image compression was causing the issue you were experiencing, it is possible that for some reasons the translated image wasn't being minified right away when translated and the original image was being shown.

I also noticed that there's one update available for this plugin, you might want to make a backup, update it, and check if you get better results. Alternatively, kindly reach out to their support to see if they can assist you with what could be wrong.

So what I did to confirm it was to temporarily disable the plugin 'TinyPNG - JPEG, PNG & WebP image compression' and proceed with the media translation. Please check the video here: hidden link

Two observations:
1- In the video the first thing I do is to 'rever to original' before translating it again, just to 'flush' the translation
2- After adding the translation I select the first option('Inhoud zoeken die precies deze media (sneller) bevat') in the wizard and run it. It is available in the screencast for your further review.

Thank you, please let me know.

Hi Mateus,

We are getting there!!! Thanks so much.

I used the media translation to change the images.
In the shop are several products still in Dutch while the pages are translated. See attached image.
As you will notice this is in the Front of the shop.
When you click on the product the English image will appear.

How can we solve this.

Thanks again!

Hello Monique,

I checked it and it looks like the issue is caused by the product visibility, those products that don't have the correct thumbnail in the shop page also don't have their title translated.

If you edit the English product and publish it, then the issue gets fixed.

I recorded a screencast here demonstrating the steps: hidden link

Please give it a try and let me know.

Hi Mateus,

In Media Translation you see 5 English documents.
I need:
the Gids Eerste Hulp voor Citroenbomen and the Vragenformulier
translated in Dutch
Why is the document indicated with English flag?
I cannot translate now.

The 3 other documents:

Allimone Lemon eCalender 2024 pdf,
Allimone Year Calender 1,
Allimone Lemon eCalender png

How can these documents be deleted?

Thanks

Hello Monique,

Please check this quick video: hidden link

To fix this issue I went to WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Settings and enabled the option 'Add separate download files for translations when translating products'.

Now you'll see that adding different files for the translated products is no longer locked.

Regarding the language of the media, it depends on the language you had select at the admin top bar at the moment, once some media has been uploaded it is not possible to change its language anymore, you'd need to delete the original and upload it again to the correct language.

You can delete it in the media library menu after searching for its slug: hidden link

Hi Mateus,

Your videos with the movements go too fast, sorry.

I still do not know how to change the products in the English documents.

Can you please give me 1 example but slowly?

thanks!

I have another concern, why are the credits getting less, when I have translated already all products?

Date 1 on 2024-8-29 versus today 2024-9-15.

Your colleague said to my that once the translation is saved no credits will be taken.

Please tell us?

Hi Monique,

The setting adjustment has already been performed so you can focus in the product edition part.

You need to go to the product in the English version and click on edit it. Or you can go to the Products listing inside the wp-admin and switch the language to English in the admin top bar. Then you locate the product and you edit it. It is the same place you navigated to when sending me the last screenshots.

I checked it and it is possible to slow down the video within loom if it helps.

Regarding the credits issue, I'll ask your comprehension to open a new ticket to have this secondary issue checked by our team.

Thank you.
