This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The client needed editors on their WordPress site to be able to translate their own posts and edit the translations of any other posts using WPML. The editors were encountering a pop-up indicating that they didn't have the necessary permissions to use WPML on posts they initiate.

Solution:

We recommended that the client should assign the editor as both a Translation Manager and Translator under WPML>>Translation Management>>Translator tab. This setup would allow the editor to translate their posts and manage translations of posts initiated by others.

For detailed guidance on setting up and understanding the capabilities of different WPML roles, we advised checking the following documentation:

Background of the issue:
I created an Editor account on my WordPress site hidden link. I need editors to be able to translate their own posts and edit the translations of any other posts using WPML.

Symptoms:
A pop-up appears indicating that the Editor account doesn't have the permissions to use WPML on posts they initiate.

Questions:
How do I set up permissions for editors to translate their own posts?
How can editors edit the translations of any other posts?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

To help you faster, I've enabled debug information for this support ticket. Please see this link for how to get this information from your site and give it to us: http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

Please visit WPML>>Translation Management>>Translator tab and add the editor user as a Translation Manager and Translator. Then check whether you are getting the expected results or not.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I've assigned "CEA Editor" Translator privileges.

CEA Editor has a WP Editor role.

Will they be able to translate their posts (and pages) and also go back and translate or correct older posts made by other users?

I'm a little uncertain about the differences between Translator and Translation Manager roles given my needs for WP Editor role accounts.

Thanks,

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. The Translation Manager has more privileges. He can assign/send a translation job to a translator and update or review the existing translations.
