Background of the issue:
I have successfully used the automatic translation for my website hidden link. Now I want to deactivate it because I want to translate new content manually. In WPML -> Settings -> Translation mode, I have chosen the ‘Choose what to translate’ mode.

Symptoms:
It still translates things automatically.

Questions:
Is there any way to disable automatic translation completely?
Can I return the credits I have assigned to that website for the automatic translation to the account to use them in other websites?

Hello,

To ensure the quickest and most accurate support, please provide your debug information so I can look at some of your configurations. We have an excellent article on how to locate it here: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/.

I understand you changed to ‘Choose what to translate’ but it still translates automatically, right?

Is this happening to all the translations (old and new)?

Can you please try this:
1) Open a translated page for editing in the default language
2) Make a minor change and update it
3) Visit WPML>>Translation Management Dashboard
4) Choose the page and send it to Translation Basket
5) Visit WPML>>Translation Management>>Translation Basket
6) Send it for translation, by choosing yourself as a translator
7) Visit WPML>>Translations queue and translate the page by clicking the *Translate* button

Are you able to translate it or it's translated automatically?

If you are using the Advanced Translation Editor and have automatic translation credits, the content might still be translated automatically. In such cases, you can revert the translation by clicking the "Undo Translation" button in the Translation Editor.

If this does not help, can you please elaborate a bit more on how the automatic translations are still happening after you changed the setting?

About:

Can I return the credits I have assigned to that website for the automatic translation to the account to use them in other websites?

Please follow the steps described here:

Otto
