Hi there,

Is it possible to use WPML to create a situation like the following?:

We have our website live in English & German. Due to the nature of our focus, it seems that some German-speaking visitors end up on our English pages (despite proper SEO measures, hreflang etc.)

You know how in e-commerce stores there is often a popup if I, for instance, visit the US website of a store, while I am in Canada, and the popup (triggered by IP / location in this case) asks me, whether I want to visit their Canadian store instead.

We do not want to use auto-redirects for SEO reason, but we would like a popup to appear only when:

- a German-speaking visitor accidentally visits an English page

The visitor should then see a popup and be asked, whether he wants to switch to the German version instead.

Could you provide your input here please?

Thanks.

Hello,

thanks for contacting us.

Such a thing will not be possible with WPML out of box and without some custom code/solution for which we advise WPML Contractors: https://wpml.org/contractors/

You can also check some related geotargeting-compatible WPML plugins, but I am not 100% sure if they support such an option with a popup

Hope this helps.

Drazen
