wp_icl_translate is 9 GB and the site is struggling. Server/site is fully optimised and on a dedicated server. What can we do to remove old translations?

Hi there.

Before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, can you please try the recommendations from the solutions offered in the tickets below?

Please let us know how that goes.

Yes we have tried all this but it does nothing. We need someone to look at it and help us reduce the translations. We have 140K translations where it shouldn't be more than 1k.

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. In order to take a detailed look and proceed with escalations if it is the case, please, provide us with the following details:

1 - Access details to your WordPress Dashboard.
2 - Access details to your database management tool.

At this point we will not change anything, the purpose is just to inspect and understand the issue. If we need to tweak it, then will work in a copy of your website, not your production/live one. As regarding providing these details, please, consider:

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.

I'm pretty sure you can read the wp-config.php file on your own.... but just for the sake of it, here's the logins:

Also just to make sure we are on the same page. The site is NOT on the ROOT directory. It is on the /power-pulse-digital folder. The FTP I previously gave you has access directly to that folder.

Hello,

Thank you for your continued patience. As it takes a bit long due the nature of the issue and because our developers are already discussing it for a long time, I browsed our forum in order to find a possible workaround, I found this one: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/database-problem-wp_icl_translate-too-big/page/3/#post-7793391.

IMPORTANT: Please, note, a backup is required for security reasons and to avoid any data loss, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/ plugin for these backup needs.

Please, give it a try and let me know if it helps. Have a nice day.

Thanks but this is not helpful. We are expecting an official fix from the WPML team. An official statement and official fix ASAP please.

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. He is our official answer I would like to share:

Currently we do not have any method to delete the jobs and this feature is still under consideration because it carries the risk of data loss. For now, we have an unofficial script that can delete the old jobs data.

Please make sure you have a complete database backup and we do not guarantee that it will work without doing any damage to the site. If anything doesn't seem to be right there is only one option that is to restore the database. If you agree then please let me know I can proceed.

So, if you, agree I can proceed removing these records. As said, a backup is required. Please, let me know.

Have a nice day.
