[Waiting for user feedback] WPML translations from Dutch to German are being overwritten/reset when updates are made, causing ma...
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I'm translating content from Dutch to German using WPML with DeepL integration on the site hidden link. After manually correcting some German translations, these corrections are being overwritten when content updates occur on other pages.
Symptoms:
Manually corrected German translations are being overwritten/reset to the original DeepL translations when updates are made.
Questions:
Why are my manually corrected translations being overwritten?
How can I prevent WPML from resetting my manual translations during updates?
Welcome to the WPML support forum. Before passing this thread to my colleague, I would like to share some suggestions and possible solutions for the issues you mentioned.
Please note, that the translation workflow is different for manual translation, translation using WPML Editor (Advanced or Classic), or via a Translation Service. Therefore there are chances of losing translation while switching the translation mode.
I just want to understand if WPML has any feature that if I do a correction in the auto translation page, that content must stay with out changing next time if I do some change in the other content of the same page
Suppose you have a text in original language and you translate it to secondary language as:
English = This is an example text.
French = Ceci est un exemple de texte.
Now if you open the translation editor and make the changes to the french content it will be saved as translation of the English segment.
Until and unless you make a change in the English segment, the translations will not be overridden.
Actually, I have Dutch as my default language and I have many other translated languages like English, German, French, etc. Translation works fine for all languages except German in some cases, so I have fixed the German few lines by rewriting my own from admin. Till this, all works fine.
My issue,
When I need to do some change in my page content again in Dutch, which will translate to other languages. So what is happening here is my manually translated content is overwritten. I so to make those content I have translated to stay with our any change if I change any content in the page.
Eg: see the screenshort, is it possible to block the translation of the pointed block? While I change the other content in the other area of the page.
