Getting started with Skrivanek and WPML

To send content for translation to Skrivanek, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with Skrivanek via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and Skrivanek. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to Skrivanek

First, you need to connect WPML with Skrivanek. Part of this very simple process is to request your Skrivanek API token.

You can request an API Token in two ways:

  1. Send an e-mail to tlumacz@skrivanek.pl and ask for a WPML Token.
  2. Visit Skrivanek’s WordPress translation via WPML and fill out the form on the right side of the screen.

As soon as you have your API Token, simply go back to WPML and enter it.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to Skrivanek, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from Skrivanek

 As soon as Skrivanek receives the files and evaluates them,  they will send you a quote by email with possible additional questions.

Receiving completed translations

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

When translations are completed, Skrivanek will inform you by email.

Canceling translation jobs

If you want to cancel the job or particular files, you need to send your cancellation request via email to tlumacz@skrivanek.pl or to your project manager. 

If you decide to go back to Skrivanek’s original offer, you will need to send the files one more time as the ID of files will be different and system will not accept the ID of cancelled jobs.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use Skrivanek to translate the rest of your site.
