Background of the issue:
I have a website in 3 languages. SI (original) then HR and ES. I have 50 products already translated.

Recently I added 2 new products in SI languages. When I try to translate product 1 it to HR en ES I get this instead of CME.
hidden link

When I try to translate product 2 I get the same thing for ES language, but weirdly I'm able to translate it fine in HR languages
hidden link

Both products are basically the same. How can I translate it in CME?

If I open the product in original language I get this
hidden link

but does not make sense why I'm able to translate it in HR but not in ES.

Symptoms:
When I try to translate product 1 to HR and ES, I get an unexpected result instead of using the Classic Translation Manager (CME). For product 2, I can translate it to HR but not to ES.

Questions:
How can I translate product 1 and product 2 using the Classic Translation Manager (CME)?
Why am I able to translate product 2 to HR but not to ES?

Hello,

Your third screenshot displays that on the original content, inside the right sidebar of WordPress, the translation method for this product is set to "WordPress Editor".

If you would like to use the Classic Translation Editor for translating this product, then you need to set the translation method to "WPML Translation Editor".

Best regards
Andreas

Thank you for the clarification!

This message means that you are using ACF on this product, and the related field groups are set to "Different fields across languages". This setting is used to translate the product and its ACF fields with the "WordPress Editor" as the translation method.

You will need to set the ACF field groups that are used on your products to "Same fields across languages" if you want to be able to use the "WPML Translation Editor".

I need Different fields across languages not Same fields.

How was I able to translate 50 items until this one and why can I translate with CTA to hr but not to ES?

Hello,

To translate the field values with the WPML Translation Editor, the field groups need to be set to "Same fields across languages".

If you need different field layouts in different languages, then you will need to use the setting "Different fields across languages" and use the WordPress Editor as the translation method.

Best regards
Andreas

what I am asking is, how is it possible then that I can easily use CTA to translate to HR with "Different fields across languages" enabled, but I can't translate to ES??

This is truly unexpected.

The reason might be that there were jobs in progress on the WPML Translation Editor that were not completed at the moment when you switched the translation method on the original product to "WordPress Editor".

Once those jobs are completed, based on your current settings, the upon following translation should be using the WordPress Editor.

You could also cancel the current jobs at WPML > Translation Management > Translation jobs.

Anyhow, as far I understood, you plan to use the Classic Translation Editor, correct?

In this case, you need to set the field groups to "Same fields across languages" or use the "Expert" mode and configure each field yourself.

You will be able to translate the ACF field with the Classic Translation Editor, but you need to:

1) Set the field groups used on products to "Same fields across languages".
2) Switch the translation method for all your products to "WPML Translation Editor".

If I switch to "Same fields across languages", all my videos on HR and ES pages are in original language, not translated, and this video ACF field is locked for translation

This is correct, this is the default behavior, for example, also for images:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/recommended-custom-fields-translation-preferences-for-acf-and-wpml/

In this case, you need to use the "Expert" mode for the field groups and configure each field individually. This way, you can set the video field to "Translate" and translate the field value inside the WPML Translation Editor.

I won't break any old translations when switching to expert?

If you have already created translations with the WordPress Editor, then translating those products with the WPML Translation Editor will overwrite those old translations.

The WPML Translation Editor can sadly not recognize any translations that were created on the WordPress Editor. Both methods are not compatible.
