Background of the issue:
I am working on a site under development and trying to change gallery images for my translated products. I need to use translated images because my images contain text.
Symptoms:
I can't change my gallery images from my translated products.
Questions:
What do I need to so I can change my gallery images. Every time when I save it it won't work
I understand what you're aiming for. To display a different image for each language, you'll need to use the Media Translation plugin of WPML. This plugin allows you to translate the Media items and display a different image per language. For more details about the plugin, please check this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/
You can translate the Gallery images through the Media translation plugin and I hope the translated image will appear correctly after that.
Please try and let me know how it goes. I'll be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter. I'll be happy to help.
The settings shown in the screenshot essentially copy the default images to the translation, ensuring that the translated version also shows the images. However, since you mentioned that you want to use translated images because the images contain text, I recommend using the Media Translation plugin. This will allow you to translate the images accordingly.
You can also manually update the images in the translation. Simply open the translated product in the editor, and in the Gallery meta section, you can add the image you want to display in the translation. Please refer to hidden link">this screenshot for a clearer understanding.
I hope you can understand. Feel free to let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I'll be happy to help.
Hi There,
I hope you're doing well. Sorry for the delay in responding due to the weekend.
Thank you for the update. To prevent the default images from being copied to the translation, you need to disable the option to copy or duplicate images in the default product and then update the translation. From the screenshot, it appears that you have disabled this option in the translated product, which might be why the translated image is not being saved. Please try the following steps:
- Please open the default product in the editor.
- Uncheck the options in this hidden link">screenshot and Save the product.
- Once done, update the translation.
- Open the translated product and add the images as per your needs.
I hope the steps above will help. Feel free to let me know if you need further assistance or clarification in this matter. I'll be happy to help.
Prosenjit, I told you I did that and it won't work. Could you please try it for yourself? It's quite frustrating because we really need to finish this but I know you're always help me good with the wpml support.
From one of your screenshots, I noticed that the option is unchecked, but it appears this was done in the translated product, not in the default product. Since data is always copied or translated from the default product to the translation, it's necessary to make changes in the default product, save them, and then update the translation to apply those changes. This is why I suggested making the changes to the default product in my previous response.
If you've already tried that and are still having trouble updating the Product Gallery image, it’s important to check whether this issue is specific to your site or a broader problem. Please try to replicate the issue in our sandbox environment using the autologin link provided below.
