This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needs to know if they should register their test site with a new WPML license after cloning their production site.
Solution:
If you're experiencing issues after cloning your website and are unsure about the WPML license registration, we recommend that you unregister the license key from the cloned website and then register the new website with a new license key associated with that URL. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Unregister the license key from your website. For detailed instructions, visit Unregister WPML.
2. Register the new website / URL with a new key. For detailed instructions, visit Register WPML.

If this solution doesn't look relevant to your issue, please open a new support ticket in our support forum.

Hello,

yes, you would need to unregister the license key from the website and then re-register the new website / URL and add new key associated to that website.

Please check:

- https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#register

Regards,
Drazen

Hi,
I did as you suggested but I'm getting an rerror.
First I unregistered the plugin and now when I try to register it with the correct key 'ay6ItZVpdb' I get the following error: "Unable to parse data from service response."

Thank you for your feedback. Have you created a new site key on wpml.org? Register again with a new site key in case of a temporary communication issue.

Let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately it doesn't work. We tried couple of times with the old key with no luck. We've also removed the site from WPML and registered it again - twice and it didn't work. We keep getting the same error - "Unable to parse data from service response."

Thank for the update. Have you tried to temporarily deactivate all non-WPML relalated plugins and check the results?
