[Resolved] hidden link redirects to handmadetilesbyvilla.com - Hosting company detected problem not due ...
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was experiencing issues with redirection from http://www.villafliser.dk to villafliser.dk, affecting their Google Ads due to a mismatch between the landing page and destination page. The hosting provider and WPML were initially blamed for the redirection. Solution: We confirmed that WPML does not cause the redirection from http://www.villafliser.dk to handmadetilesbyvilla.com. We recommended checking for redirection issues possibly caused by third-party plugins, custom code, hosting settings (.htaccess file), or domain settings. We advised setting up domains to point to the same site/IP without redirection and suggested using the language URL format 'Different languages in directories' before switching to 'A different domain per language'. We also recommended using the online tool https://www.redirect-checker.org/ to verify the current state of redirection. For further guidance on setting up domains with WPML, refer to https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/. I have had a chat with you an hour ago. the problem with redirect was found to be a problem only with hidden link - not with villafliser.dk. The difference is www. You claimed the problem was due to the hosting company settings. They claim that the problem is yours. They run curl and found:

Simply - the hosting company writes that they cannot remove the Alias for villafliser.dk - as there will be nothing on the page (villafliser.dk) in that case. Please solve this issue. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Simply - the hosting company have made tests - and found that the issue is not due to any settings with them.

I’m Long from the WPML Development team. Sorry for the delayed response - it has been a full queue for the past few days and it can take a bit longer to respond.
After checking the redirection with the domain hidden link, I don't see it redirecting to the domain handmadetilesbyvilla.com.
It's now redirecting to the non-www domain villafliser.dk, I use the online tool hidden link to confirm this.
Can you please recheck and confirm it works on your end?

Its temporarily working because I set in a code in wp-config.php. That seemed to work - but it is not solving the issue fundamentally. I do think however that the problem is with the hosting company. They denye that - they say it is a WPML problem.
They did an alias domain, which I think google understands as a redirect. I asked them to change that, which they at first refused. I wrote them exactly what to do, but somehow they got it wrong - and they changed villafliser.dk to an alias domain. That means: Nothing is working at the moment.
What I would like you to check is if there is anything in history / settings - whatever it could be, on your end - which could make this redirection to occur. The hoster claims it is not their problem, - it is a WP / WPML problem.
What is your experience concerning the domain settings - and what do you recommend concerning the architecture in a case like mine: multi domain?

Is it possible for you to instruct the hosting company in how to make the settings for multi domain? Or do you have some information (information sheet) which instruct hosting companies how to set up multi domain correctly - in order for both www. and non-www to work - in a way which google accepts?

The hosting company claims that you, WPML instruct to use alias domain. As they have now changed villafliser.dk to an alias domain - the code which I set up in wp-config.php is not working - as per the domain only being an alias. Could you please provide an instruction for them to set up multi domain - not multisite. They do not beleive me - and I also think that they do not know how to proceed - so they just claim to do it right - although it is obvious that it is not working. You can have a look right now: hidden link goes to villafliser.dk - all right. But hidden link redirects to handmadetilesbyvilla.com.
I know that you are busy, but I really need you to answer this asap. The hosting company claim that "parked domain" as you write in your instructions and a hosting setting with "domain alias" is the same. That has a consequence of a redirection to handmadetilesbyvilla.com - so there must be a misunderstanding here. Could you please clear this up and give them clear instructions how to avoid this pitfall - asap, please. Thanks.
Now it seams as if www finally shows villafliser.dk - the danish site - and not the english site as previous. But that does not solve the initiate problem, that google ads does not accept the domain - and therefore not any advertisement in google ads - due to difference between the landing page and the destination page - (maybe caused by redirection via alias). So how is this going to work? How can this be solved? What is the WPML way of setting this up - to make google accept the difference between landingpage and destination page?

Please notice that the park domain or alias domain shouldn't make the redirection to the main or another domain.
Before using the feature different domains per language of WPML, please follow steps below:
- switch the language URL format to "Different languages in directories"
- setup handmadetilesbyvilla.com and villafliser.dk domains point to the same site/IP without any redirection, which means you can see the same site content when visiting any domain.
After that you can switch the language URL format to "A different domain per language".
If you can access your domain with www like a subdomain, please tell your hosting or domain provider to redirect hidden link to villafliser.dk.

Unfortunately this does not help at all.
You should read my questions again - especially the last at 2.17 pm.
The problem is not a WPML set up problem (I do not want to go through that for the 15th time) - and the hoster claims they set it up all right (after some trouble - which they have changed now). But google claims that there is a redirect which causes the landingpage and destination page for my google ads to be different. Therefore I cannot run any google ads. That is the current problem.
So the problem has only partly been solved by the hoster (you can now access villafliser.dk via www as a user) - but I still need to find out why - and where this redirection is, to be able to advertise on google. And how to change that.
That is why my questions are:
- Please find out where this redirection is, as google claims?
- Or as an alternative - tell me how to make a work around for this problem?
- Or as an alternative - tell me what should be changed in order for google ads to be running with WPML.
Make it specific for this case - no generic information please.
Enter the account for handmadetilesbyvilla.com (the default page) - if necessary. But please do not just send me instructions that I can find on the internet.

I just want to rephrase that, I've rechecked our code and confirmed that WPML doesn't make the redirection from hidden link to handmadetilesbyvilla.com.
The redirection could be configured by:
- a third-party plugin
- custom code
- hosting: .htaccess file
- domain settings
But for now, I see the correct redirection (301) from hidden link to villafliser.dk as the final URL and it is not interfering with WPML. So I suggest you register the Google Ads again with the final URL villafliser.dk (non-www) or request another review for your domain and say that the redirection is now fixed.
If you still receive a rejection after Google has re-reviewed the Ads, please share:
- The exact Google Ads error message
- The affected final URL
