Im interested in how will the language panel look like on front end.Can i change it’s position , can i display languages like in footer of your page and if i can rather have dropdown menu of languages in header.Or is it all depending on how it’s described in my theme ?
I’m trying to setup theme translation with WPML String Translate to figure out if it fits the needs of the project I’m currently working on. It shows the number of untranslated strings in Translation Management ok, but when I click to translate them, the list is empty. Took me a while until I noticed in url thing like this:
‘r&r’ is a name of the theme. Apparently, String Translate doesn’t urlencode it before passing as a parameter and the result is not what user (me) expects. Can it be fixed quickly?

Is it possible with this plugin to automatically redirect visitors from different countries to our wordpress page in their language, depending on the domain they visit or depending on their location?

I’m not sure about the status of other plugins, but we always test and run full QA before any WordPress versions are ready. At the moment, WPML runs smoothly with WordPress 3.8. We will review WordPress 3.9, as soon as the first alpha is ready and we will have a stable update by the time a release candidate is ready.

There have been some changes and improvements in the plugin since then. I wonder if is it worth it to buy a small license, or is it just fine to continue as we currently are.
After you buy WPML, you get support and upgrades for a year. After that year, you can renew support and upgrades for 50% of the original cost. Alternatively, you can buy a Lifetime account ($195) and get support and upgrades for life, without renewal fees.
I want to buy one license of Multilingual CMS Lifetime. Could I use plugin for comercial use on multiple sites? For example I want to make 10 sites for my clients and I want to install 10 copies of WPML (one on each site). Should I buy one license of WPML for every site or one license will be enough for all of them?

Yes. You can use the repeater fields from ACF and also create nice option pages. Since the fields belong to posts, the translations will have their own set of fields.

1. The basic WPML version is mostly good for simple blogs. The full package includes everything, with String Translation, Multilingual WooCommerce, Translation Management and basically everything you need to run full sites.
2. Yes, you can buy the basic Blog package now and see if you need more. If you do, you can upgrade to the full CMS package and pay only the difference ($50).
3. WPML doesn’t require a multisite installation. It adds languages to a single WordPress site. If you happen to run a network of sites on a multisite installation, you can use WPML to add languages to EACH of the sites on the network. I guess that this is not what you mean.

The upcoming version of WPML, ready in about 3 weeks, will include a set of capabilities that you can control. You will be able to grant permissions to access specific WPML features for different kinds of users. Please note that WPML sets the capabilities. There are other plugins that let you map between users and capabilities. We will recommend plugins that are completely compatible with this and let you manage capabilities with WPML.

To translate texts that are coded in the theme, please use WPML’s String Translation. Install the String Translation module, activate it and then go to WPML->String Translation. You can search for the strings with the search tool and translate the ones that you need.
If we have say two translations, English and Spanish.
We have videos that we have hosted on Amazon s3 and we use a plugin that you can specify the url to the video with a shortcode – however now the videos are in english only. Can I create a folder and put the spanish only videos in there and change all the shortcodes referencing the video paths and replace “…/ENG/…” with “…/SPN/…”
Or does this translation only change the printed text that appears on the screen?
You can use any language with WPML. It comes pre-defined with all European and Asian languages. If you need any other language, you can always add it via WPML’s language setup menu.
We are working on compatibility with Templatic team. Right now, there are little issues with all the themes that we have tested. They are working on these issues, but it’s not complete yet.

You can display the language selector in different ways and in different parts of the site. This includes in any widget area, in the menu, the footer, or using your custom theme hooks. Have a look here for full details:

WPML does this redirect based on the browser’s language settings, rather than the physical location. This is more reliable, since people from different places in the world may have their own language preferences. It’s documented here:

If you don’t renew your subscription, everything will continue working normally. You will only not have access to support and upgrades.

Yes. You can display all sorts of language switchers in the basic (Blog – $29) version of WPML.

This really depends on your edits. If you are using the WordPress API to load and display content, it should work smoothly with WPML.

I started to set up my web in Chinese. I have some questions:
1) The WPML looks like is eble to translate the posts and pages only. How to translate the rest? How to translate the theme?

If you see there is the product site where the content is translated on Chinese. But still the buttons, the tabs and the titles, that belong to the woo theme, are in english!

Translations will be saved in different posts in the database. You can certainly have different URLs for different languages, for different videos.

I need to turn my simple wordpress store which uses WooCommerce and their Wootique theme into Multi Currency.
I want users to be able to select US Dollars, Euros or Pounds and for the system to display and checkout in that currency.
