[Resolved] An error occurred while applying the translation.
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are trying to review and accept translations in WPML and automatically proceed to the next one, but encounter an error that forces you to return to the WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Translations. This issue occurs with an error message: "An error occurred while applying the translation", and sometimes the page gets stuck at "Please wait, applying translation". Solution: We recommend clicking on the "complete review" button if the translation process gets stuck. This action seems to resolve the issue temporarily by allowing the translation to complete and proceed to the next one. If you are experiencing this issue repeatedly and it is affecting multiple products, it might be helpful for us to conduct further tests. Please ensure that you are using the latest versions of all themes and plugins, as outdated versions can contribute to such issues.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If problems persist, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to review and accept translations and automatically proceed to the next one. However, I encounter an error that forces me to return to the WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Translations, which is time-consuming given that I have 4250 translations to review.
Symptoms:
An error occurred while applying the translation. I expected to see the next translation that needs to be reviewed, but instead, I got an error message: "An error occurred while applying the translation". Sometimes the page gets stuck at "Please wait, applying translation".
Questions:
How can I resolve the error that occurs while applying translations?
Is there a way to streamline the translation review process to avoid returning to the dashboard each time?
It looks like there is some conflict with another plugin or the theme. I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Thank you for checking.
Unfortunately the link does not lead to any instructions but to an explanation about the REST API.
I tried to enable the REST API but I fail to find a clear step by step guide.
I hope you can further help me?
Thank you!
Thank you for your response. Could you kindly contact your hosting provider and request them to enable the REST API? Unfortunately, there aren't specific instructions available, as the process to enable it varies depending on the hosting provider.
I just checked on the live website (another hosting company) and the RET API is enabled. the live website is on vaesen.eu
Please let me know what else I can try?
It looks like the translation got stuck earlier and "clicking" on the "complete review" seems to fix it. The product is now translated to German hidden link
Do you have another product with the same issue? I'd like to test further.
Yes!
This solved the issue. It is also solved the issue on the other Live domain, without me having to do anything. Not sure how you unstuck it, but that seems to have done the trick.
Thank you for your swift replies and solution.
