This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues where all paragraphs are being merged into one when using the WPML Translation Editor to translate content created with The Events Calendar Classic Editor. Additionally, when previewing the translated event and clicking on the language flag, it initially redirects to the English version before displaying the translated version.
Solution:
We recommend following the steps outlined on the WPML errata page which addresses issues with line breaks being ignored in the Advanced Translation Editor. This solution was successfully applied to a sandbox site and resolved the issues.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we encourage you to check for related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should the problem persist, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to create an event and save it to draft using The Events Calendar Classic Editor. Then, I use the WPML Translation Editor to translate the content.

Symptoms:
Within the WPML Translation Editor all the paragraphs are being wrapped up into one paragraph. Also when I preview the event and click on the link (flag) to show the translated event, it redirects to the English version again. When I click on the flag again, it shows the translated version.

Questions:
Why are all the paragraphs being wrapped up into one paragraph when using the WPML Translation Editor?
Why does the translated event initially redirect to the English version before showing the translated version?

Hi,

I have created a sandbox site and the issue still persists.

You can find the event in the backend here:
hidden link

When you edit the german translation, all paragraphs are beeing wrapped up to one.

Also when you click on "Preview", the following page opens:
hidden link

After clicking on the link (flag) in the frontend to see the german translation, you are redirected to:
hidden link

It just delets "&preview=true“ in the url. When you click on the flag again, you can see the german version.

Another thing that is quite annoying:
If I select a text passage with the mouse in the translation editor and an automatic save takes place, I lose my selection. This is particularly annoying if you want to edit formatting or links.

Best,
David

Hi David,

I applied the steps from this page to the sandbox site, which fixed the issue.

Please check the sandbox site and let me know if it works correctly.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi Osama,

thanks for your help. This seems to fix the issue with the paragraphs. Do you know if the setting "I prefer bigger segments" applies to all users automatically?

And do you have a solution for the issue with previewing the event and switching languages?

Thank you!

Kind regards,
David

Hi David,

1) I tested it on the sandbox site, and the option is disabled for another translator account.

2) The language switcher won't work correctly for drafts, so you need to publish the events to use it. You can also preview the drafts in other languages by editing the translated event in the dashboard.

Best regards,
Osama

Thank you very much! I hope the issue with the paragraphs will be resolved soon, because I really like the option "I prefer bigger segments" and want to reactivate it as soon as possible.
