This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to change the language selector on their site from displaying a country flag to showing a globe icon, but they couldn't find relevant documentation.
Solution:
We recommend custom coding to achieve this change as it falls outside the standard support scope. For guidance, please refer to a similar case discussed in our forums: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/i-want-to-add-language-switcher-to-the-header-with-an-icon/. If you are not familiar with coding, we suggest hiring a front-end developer or a WPML contractor, which you can find here: https://wpml.org/contractors/.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hi there.

This is a pretty custom request that would require custom coding for you to accomplish what you plan.

Custom work falls out of the scope of our Support Policy but sometimes, if things don't take long, we usually try to allocate a bit of time to try to at least guide you in the right direction.

Please take a look at this existing ticket as my colleague's recommendations from that ticket should help guide you in the right direction so that you can accomplish your goal:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/i-want-to-add-language-switcher-to-the-header-with-an-icon/

If you have never used code and find that recommendation difficult, I recommend that you hire a front-end developer or a WPML contractor (https://wpml.org/contractors/)

I hope that you will find this information helpful.
