This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing slow performance when translating articles or pages not loading well in a WordPress + Elementor + WPML setup, even after installing a cache.
Solution:
We recommend you first contact your hosting provider to upgrade your PHP version to v8.0 or v8.1. If the issue persists after the upgrade:
1. Create a full site backup or set up a staging site as a copy of your live site.
2. Update any outdated plugins and themes.
3. Flush any existing cache memory.
4. Deactivate all plugins, including WPML ones.
5. Activate a default WordPress theme, like Twenty Twenty.
6. Reactivate the WPML plugins.
7. If the performance issue resolves, reactivate your theme and then other plugins one by one to identify the problematic plugin.

If this solution does not apply to your case because it might be outdated, or if you continue facing issues, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Additionally, you can open a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
We are using a WordPress + Elementor + WPML site with a lot of articles and categories. Since we installed the WPML Plugin, translating an article is very slow. Opening a page in Elementor or an article can be very challenging. We installed a cache, but it's still very slow. 50% of the time, the page is not loading well. Can you advise us? Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

Symptoms:
20 sec to edit a page. Page not loading well.

Questions:
Can you advise us on how to improve the speed of translating articles?
Why is the page not loading well even after installing a cache?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

1.- Please contact your hosting providers and ask them to upgrade the PHP version to v8.0 or v8.1

2.- Once the PHP version if upgraded, if the performance issue persists, then I kindly ask you to follow these steps and let me know the results:
- Create a full site backup or create a staging site with a copy of the live site
- Update any outdated plugins and themes
- Flush any cache memory that might exist
- Deactivate all plugins, including the WPML ones
- Activate a default WordPress theme, like Twenty Twenty
- Activate the WPML plugins
- If the performance issue disappears, start by activating the theme and then the rest of the plugins, one by one, until the issue appears again and you find the culprit

Looking forward to your message.
Regards,
Carlos
