This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: If you're experiencing issues where changing a SKU causes the product to go into "Need modifications" and you're being charged for translations despite no significant content changes, this might be due to minor text alterations such as the removal of line breaks. These changes are treated as new content by the translation memory, requiring re-translation. Solution: We recommend enabling WordPress revisions to track changes more accurately, which might help in identifying unintentional text modifications like line breaks. It's important to ensure that the text sent for translation matches exactly with previous translations to avoid unnecessary charges. If the issue persists and you believe it should not, please check our related known issues and verify you have the latest versions of themes and plugins installed. If this solution does not apply or is outdated, we encourage you to open a new support ticket for further assistance. You can do so here: WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
For example if I change a SKU the product goes in "Need modifications"
I thought that WPML had a translation memory, si in my opinion, if I put these products in translation, we will pay nothing because the content didn't change
The problem is that, after some tests, I saw that we pay these translations so I don't understand at all
you are correct. If the content has not changed, you should not pay for any translation. If you have issue I suggest checking / review the translation in WPML translation editor to see what was newly translated.
You can also share with me product URL and time of translation and I will check the translation job from our side and see what was charged.
I checked, and it seems the product category text was changed and is now translated as part of the product translation. Image attached.
1) I would suggest checking that your taxonomy texts are correct, since it seems English text is there instead French.
2) Does the issue still happen if you now again try to re-translate? It should not charge if nothing now to translate. Which was not part of you last job, there where some changes in relation to previous job.
Also, you can set to review automatic translation jobs, and review and see what was translated. Dotted segments means automatic translation.
1) You or some issue, changed your category description text in French, and they are in English now, so when you translated the product, you were charged for this, at least in example I checked and shared before.
I suggest you recheck your taxonomy and make sure they are correct in default language. So, the French language and description is in French.
2) I meant you try with the same product that you already paid for, not a new one. For example: hidden link
If you are charged again, let me know, and share the wp-admin info to the next safe reply so I can login and check. I will also re-add the credits that you used for this testing, approximately 500 credits.
As for the backend admin language change, it is a bit strange, but let's leave this for a later and new ticket and concentrate on the current problem.
I am trying to test this product: hidden link
But if I change the stock status or SKU, it does not trigger the need for translation, It still says completed (pencil icon), so I am wondering what you are actually changing that then requires an update of translation and / retranslation?
For this one is okay, it does not appear anymore now (I don't know why, it appears on the previous video)
But you can check now another example for another product, no need of translations because already made, I click just on update, and now it appears on needed translations ...
It's like I have to re-translate all the products to have the good status, I don't understand
For this current product you mentioned, it seems this text is newly added/changed in FR and WPML is translating it. Please share where is this added in the default language. Did somebody change it in the meantime?
