  5. Dear colleagues at WPML,
    we want to make our website (https://www.nds-fluerat.org) multilingual available and are considering WPML. Three questions about this:
    (a) can we get WPML for free since we are a non-profit human rights organization? And what would the credits cost then?
    b) on the one hand we could have pages translated automatically and then edit these translations manually. These are then stored on our server, right? Automatic translations „on the fly“ also work, right?
    c) For the size of our site we assume a „work in progress“, where we would start with a few current contributions. Do you have any experience how the start works best?

      a) yes, there is a good chance but we need to verify you first, please apply here: https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
      Please note that you will get 90 000 credits for free in the package. If you need more translation credits, you will need to pay for them (we pay for the credits to Google Translate and DeepL and these are not free for us)
      b) Yes, they are stored on your server (in your WordPress database) but also on our translation cloud so you can benefit from the translation memory
      c) You can add WPML now or later, it doesn’t matter.

  6. Hello!

    We have implemented the WPML plugin on our website for a few years now. However, the agency that created our website back then no longer has a license key or anything. Can we simply buy a new license and update the plugin, which has been in use for a long time, to the latest version? Or do we have to proceed differently in this case?

    • Hello, I have checked your website (the one you provided when posting your comment) and I can see that it is still registered in our system, by someone who has a Lifetime license, which means that can update the WPML plugin from within your site. But before you do so, please note that your site uses a very old version of WPML and you can run into issues if you update it immediately from WPML 4.2 (your site uses now) to 4.6.3 which is the recent version. In such case you should gradually update WPML. It doesn’t matter if you do it with the lience that is already assigned to your website or if you buy WPML again with your email and reregister WPML (unregister the old key and register a new one). You can buy WPML, open a ticke on our support thread and ask for help. Pur supporter can assist you in updating WPML. For example, they can take a copy of your site and try the update on your copy.

    We have installed WPML Multilingual CMS version 2.4.2 years ago on our website. Are there any updates for this version? Our programmer who created the website is untraceable for years. Maybe this version has a lifetime license. Could you please check this?

      The website you shared when posting this comment is not registered in our system so I cannot help you find the license owner. You would need to buy WPML again but updating from such an old version to the most recent one „in one go“ is not recommended. You would need to do it gradually (download a few versions that were released in between these two). Best would be to contact our support to help you out with the steps or you can also hire someone who can do this for you: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/

    two questions:

    1. I have my own Deepl Pro account. Is it possible to integrate it somehow? Then I would not need the credits.
    2. I currently use Polylang in the Free version, but since Polylang have packed the language switcher into their Pro version, I would then switch completely. Is a migration possible?

      Thank you for your interest in WPML.
      1. I’m sorry but you cannot use your own DeelP api key.
      2. Yes, you can. We provide a migration plugin: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/migrate-polylang-wpml/ but I would need to check with my team if this plugin can handle your migrated posts for further automatic translation. Let me explain what I mean. By default, when you translate something automcatilly with WPML the translated page will open in the so-called Advaice Translation editor and you can use automatic translation. Some people prefer to switch this editor off (it’s explained here how to do so) and edit translated pages directly in the WordPress editor. Pages migrated from Polylang might require switching off the WPML avdance translation editor for the migrated pages. This is what I need to double check with my team.

    • Yes, if you have a lifetime subscription, you get updates and support for life. But you will need to log in to the WPML account to get help.

    I am running a forum and would like to make it multilingual. Therefore i want to know if it is possible to autotranslate Topics. And synchronize replies threw languages without translation. And if there is a way to filter then. If a client wants to see only german replies, all other languages are hidden then. So if it is kind of saving default language and if there is a real translation.

  11. Since an external agency built and set up our website (including the WPML plugin), we do not have any access data to reach out for supporters. We also did not know until recently that we have a lifetime license. Unfortunately, the agency no longer exists, so we can’t get any credentials – emails or passwords. Is there maybe the possibility, in our profile, to have the email address changed so that we can assign ourselves a new password?

    • Hello,
      the client who registered your website has a lifetime license indeed but that account has been used to register a few other websites (not only your website) and in this case we cannot change the email. We would need to get a request to do so from the other email. If the email no longer exist, you can send a request from another email but you would need to provide us the purchase invoice of the WPML account. Please note that you can also buy WPML with your email address.

  13. Würde gerne das Produkt erwerben. Finde keine alternative Zahloption zu paypal und bei paypal keine Möglichkeit ohne account zu zahlen. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit des Produkterwerbs ohne paypal account?

      Sie können ohne PayPal-Konto direkt mit Ihrer Kreditkarte bezahlen. Wählen Sie dazu beim Bezahlvorgang die Option „Alternativer Zahlungsabwickler“ aus. Sie sehen die Option unter PayPal/Kreditkarte.

    ich habe nochmal eine Frage zu den 3 Produktionswebsiten, was ist genau damit gemeint? Kann ich das Plugin für 3 verschiedene WordPress-Seiten nutzen? Wenn ja, wie geht das? Das Plugin ist bereits auf einer Seite installiert und wird genutzt.

    • Wenn Sie Ihr WPML registrieren, um den Lizenzschlüssel zu generieren, müssen Sie „Entwicklung (Development)“ oder „Produktion“ auswählen. Bei Websites, die als Entwicklungswebsite registriert sind, wird in der Fußzeile Ihrer Website ein Banner mit dem Hinweis angezeigt, dass es sich um eine Entwicklungswebsite handelt.

  16. Hallo, möchte gerne nachfragen ob ich von Weglot zu WPML wechsel kann und die bestehende Übersetzungen beibehalten werden.
    Arbeitet WPML auch mit Rankmath zusammen und kann ich meine SEO relevanten Übersetzungen separat einsehen ?

      Sie können Ihren bestehenden Übergang von Weglot nach dem Wechsel zu WPML nicht beibehalten. Ja, WPML funktioniert mit dem Rankmath-Plugin und mit beliebten SEO-Plugins. Wenn Sie eine Seite mit WPML übersetzen, wird eine neue WordPress-Seite erstellt und Sie können SEO-Attribute separat für diese Seite einrichten.

      Ich fürchte, es gibt keine Möglichkeit, Ihre Übersetzungen von Weglot nach WPML zu übertragen, oder wir haben zumindest kein Migrations-Plugin dafür.

  19. Guten Tag,

    ich habe eine Webseite zur Darstellung eines Unternehmens mit zusätzlichen Online-Shop (WooCommerce). Die gesamte Anwendung (Webseite + Online Shop) laufen auf einer Domain, jedoch mit vielen Unterseiten. Ich verstehe nicht ganz, was mit 3 Produktionswebseiten und 9 Entwicklungswebseiten gemeint ist. Wenn ich das Paket kaufe, ich in meiner WordPress-Anwendung jedoch 50 Seiten habe, werden dann alle übersetzt oder nur 12 davon?

    Zusammengefasst ist meine Frage, ob sich die Anzahl der Produktions/ Entwicklungswebseiten auf die Anzahl meiner Seiten in WordPress bezieht oder auf die Anzahl meiner Domains? Da ich alles auf einer Domain habe, gilt das als „eine Produktionswebseite“?

  22. Alles klar, vielen Dank! Was ich noch nicht ganz verstanden habe: Das heißt, die Website wird komplett übersetzt und beim Auslaufen des Plug-Ins bleibt sie auf dem letzt aktuellen Niveau. Das Plug-In übersetzt also nicht automatisch, sofern/nur wenn man auf spezifische Sprachen klickt, sondern stetig?

    • Das bedeutet, dass die Übersetzungen, sobald sie fertig sind, auf Ihrer Website verbleiben. Besucher Ihrer Website können die Sprache so oft ändern, wie sie möchten, und dies verursacht keine neuen Kosten, da die Übersetzungen auf Ihrer Website verbleiben (und der Inhalt in der Originalsprache Teil Ihrer Website ist und Sie ihn nicht neu erstellen müssen). jedes Mal, wenn jemand Ihre Website besucht). In jeder Sprache wird eine neue Version erstellt und bleibt erhalten.

    we would like to translate a small part of the given website into English. We use the Avada theme

    1) Is it possible to translate only one or two elements of the start page in the English version – and hide the rest completely in English? Background: we only offer one of the online courses in English – the German online courses should therefore be hidden because they are uninteresting for English-speaking visitors.
    2) Is it possible to translate only 10 pages into English and completely hide the others (approx. 200 pages) in English? Background: only those pages should be displayed in English that have also been translated into English.
    3) Is it possible to offer completely different page content in English instead of a translation of a page?
    Background: there may be some pages, for which we need complete new texts in English, because e.g. the buying process is different.

      Let me try to answer your questions in order:
      1. In case you want to have different content per languages, you need to manually translate your page as explained here.
      2. You can manually decide which pages will be send to translation or not.
      3. You will need to follow the same workflow from 1.

  24. Hallo liebes WPML Team,

    wir würden euer Plugin gern im Zuge eines Relaunches nutzen. Es geht dabei um einen Blog, den es einmal auf deutsch und einmal auf englisch gibt -> künftig dann nur noch eine URL. Auf den Blogs sind jeweils an die 1.000 Beiträge veröffentlich, die alle miteinander verknüpft werden müssten.

    Gibt es die Möglichkeit einer Art Massenverknüpfung? Dass man anhand einer Liste der Beitragstitel de und einer Liste der Beitragstitel en, die jeweils zusammengehörigen Beiträge auswählt o.ä.?

      Vielen Dank für Ihr Interesse an WPML. Heißt das, Sie haben Ihre beiden Blogs auf zwei verschiedenen Domains, deren Beiträge Sie gerne miteinander verknüpfen würden? Nein, das ist mit WPML nicht möglich.
      Deine Optionen:
      Option 1) Sie müssten Beiträge aus einem Blog exportieren und in den anderen importieren und könnten sie dann manuell verlinken
      Option 2) Sie installieren WPML auf einem Ihrer Blogs und kopieren bei der Übersetzung mit WPML die Übersetzung manuell aus dem anderen Blog.

    Ich möchte eine Website mit mehreren Unterseiten mit dem Page Builder Elementor erstellen. Benötige ich hierzu mehr als die Basis Version um 39 Euro? Für mich geht dies aus den Preisangeboten nicht konkret hervor.

    was bedeutet:
    „Unterstützung für Seitenersteller – Übersetzen Sie ganz einfach Ihre Designs aus Elementor und anderen Seitenerstellern“

    Ich möchte ohnehin alles manuell übersetzen…
