Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate an English page using WPML, but the changes are not reflecting in the blocks. They show 100% completed but are not. I am using the correct method by clicking on the marker to open the WPML translation editor. This issue has occurred in multiple pages, including hidden link.

Symptoms:
A wheel is displayed instead of the marker, even though the translation shows 100% completed. The same issue was reported in a prior ticket that was marked solved but wasn't.

Questions:
Why are the changes not reflecting in the blocks despite showing 100% completion?
Why is a wheel displayed instead of the marker?

Hi,

Are you trying to change an already-created translation?

I'm asking this because when I check the French translation of the page you gave as an example, it seems 100% translated.

What are those blocks that you are referring to?

According to your description, it might be a caching issue. Please make sure to deactivate the caching on your site while making changes to it.

If my suggestions don't help, please give me access to your site so I can check this issue. I'm enabling a private message for the following reply.

On the page you mention, there is a wheel. so I edited a block, just adding a dot. Bit still, it show the wheel and the block with the dot missing is not showing the dot missing.

Hi, and thanks for the access details.

I also thank you for the video you sent.

If you see the gear icon (what you call the wheel) or the circled arrow icon next to a language (French in your case), the translation is still in progress or needs an update. So in this case, any changes you add to the original page will not be included in the translation. First, you must complete the in-progress (gear icon) or update-needed (circled arrow icon) translation to make it show the pencil icon. Only when the pencil icon shows you can change the original page.

When I first edited the French translation of the hidden link">last page you gave me as an example, I could see that it was only 88% completed. Some sections were not set as 'Translation is complete.' Please see the attached screenshot 88-completed.jpg. So, I finished this translation job to be 100% completed. And when I returned to the editing screen, I saw the pencil icon. Please see the attached screenshot pencil-icon.jpg.

Then, I wanted to ensure the problem did not occur again, so I changed the original page and checked again. I could again complete the translation.

For your information, there are two sections where I made changes. The translation now shows the [French] tag before the section. Please see the attached screenshot french-tag.jpg. Please see the following sections and translate them into French:

1. [French] Become a Certified AYM Therapist & Practice Iyengar Yoga
2. Accommodation and Meals
[French]Pricing (8 Days / 7 Nights) per person...

Another note. Your video shows that the translation was 100% complete. It is not clear to me why it happened. I recommend you clear the caching in your browser and log out and in of your site again. You can also try this from another browser.

Please let me know if everything is OK now.

Thanks,
Itamar.

Thanks Itamar,
as you can see, when i click on the gear icon, it goes from 65 to 100% without letting me completing it !?!
So there is no way to truly see the box untranslated and to complete it ?!

I cleared the cache on Browser and on Rocket.
I tried on 2 different browsers (chrome and Firefox)
But still the gear appears. YES, that is the question, why the gear is still appearing and translation goes from 65 to 100% without completing the translation.

Thanks

Hi, Ananta.

I can see the problem when editing this event:

hidden link

You are using WPML's Classic Translation Editor to translate this event.

1. Have you used the Advanced Translation Editor in the past to translate this event?

2. Have you used manual translation in the past, where you translated the content without WPML's Translation Editor?

If the answer to number 2 is yes, then you have the option to proceed with the manual translation by editing the French translation here:

hidden link

Please see the attached screenshot translate-fr-manualy.jpg. You would need to switch to the WordPress editor first. Please see the attached screenshot switch-to-wp-editor-2.jpg.

This may be a good quick solution for this specific event.

3. Do you see this problem also in other events?

I must mention that I see some related problems. Whenever I go to WPML -> Translation Management -> Jobs and try to cancel this job, it again shows the "In progress - Needs update" status. Please see the attached screenshot inprogress-needs-update.jpg.

I also noticed the following in WPML -> Translation Management -> Translators. Your translator user "Ananta" had only one language pair, English -> English. Please see the attached screenshot ananta-en-en.jpg. So, I deleted it and created a new translator with all the language pairs. Please see the attached screenshot ananta-all-lang.jpg.

I'll wait for your reply to the things and questions I have written so far. If it does not help, we will need to proceed to WPML's troubleshooting section. I'll provide more explanations.

Bonne année ❤️
Itamar.

1. Have you used the Advanced Translation Editor in the past to translate this event?
I am not sure, I think I remember a kind of issue in the pass (see ticket), maybe the issue won't come anymore? How to use it?
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-can-i-make-a-texts-with-several-paragraphs-been-several-blocks-in-translatio/

2. Have you used manual translation in the past, where you translated the content without WPML's Translation Editor?
No, i use only Translation Editor from English, if I open from french, then the gear will also come and translation become difficult.

3. 3. Do you see this problem also in other events?
Not always !?!?

Hi,

Please try the troubleshooting section.

1. Take a backup of the DB of your site.

2. Go to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting (link)

3. Once on the troubleshooting screen, press the following buttons and check if it helps. Press each button at a time and wait for the process to complete. (The bolded options are more relevant to your case, but while you are in the troubleshooting section, please proceed with all the options I added here.)

- 'Synchronize posts taxonomies' for 'Events'

- 'Clear the cache in WPML'

- 'Remove ghost entries from the translation tables'

- 'Fix element_type collation'

- 'Fix WPML tables collation'

- 'Synchronize local job ids with ATE jobs'

- 'Synchronize translators and translation managers with ATE'

- 'Assign translation status to duplicated content'

- 'Set language information'

- 'Reset languages' Press this button only if you didn't add a custom language!

- 'Fix terms count'

- 'Fix post type assignment for translations'

- 'Cancel in-progress automatic jobs'

- 'Cleanup and optimize string tables'

- 'Clear invalid strings'

*** Please make a backup of your database before using this.***

If the above does not help, and since this problem only happens with a specific event, would you consider deleting the French translation of this event and retranslating it?

To do this, go to All Events and switch to French. Then, please select the relevant event and move it to the trash section. Then, go to the trash section and permanently delete this event. Please see the attached screenshot delete-fr-event.jpg.

(Note: you have several events with the same name. I'm unsure why this is so. The one I marked in green is the direct translation of this English event: hidden link. The event with the problem. But maybe you should delete all the events with the same name. To be honest, I'm unsure how the M.E. Calendar plugin works and if all of them need to be deleted.)

Then go to WPML -> Translation Management -> Jobs and delete/cancel the "In-progress" job for this event. Please see the screenshot from my previous reply.

Then, retranslate the event with the problem.

**** Important! Please make a full site backup (files and DB) before you proceed with those steps****

Does this fix the problem?

Regards,
Itamar.

Hello Itamar,
I tried your solution from WPML Troubleshooting.
After precessing all, it seems it worked, but then after a couple of edit and save, it is the same issue with the gear appearing and non-translated blocks not showed.

Also, when trying to create a new translation, once or twice it go to a queue page instead of the WPML translation editor !?! It is like what happened in the prior ticket:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/a-wheel-is-displayed-instead-of-the-marker/
then it became normal again. Please see image and this video:

Anyway the gear is there:

or there:

It is depressing and so tiring to deal with such translation tool, please help
