Create new Post and assign it to categories...
When I was writing the post, I noticed that WP / WPML thought I was writing in Spanish. I was writing in Danish, so I changed "Language of this post" to Danish.
Either before or after I assigned it to 2 categories.
But know each category is mentioned twice on the post, both when displaying the final result, and when looking at a list in WP dashboard -> Posts.
When I look at the final result, the category name is mentioned twice in Danish.
When I look at the list in WP dashboard -> Posts the category name is shown in Danish AND Spanish...
Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.
Please go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting > Click on some buttons below and check if the issue is resolved.

- Fix WPML tables collation
- Fix terms count
- Fix post type assignment for translations
If it does not help, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
The issue is resolved. Thank you.
The last button gave this result:
"Post type and source language assignment have been fixed for 1 elements"
How big is the risk that the procedure has created other problems...? 😉
Is it important that the buttons are used in the order they appear on the WPML -> Troubleshooting page?
Glad to hear it works on your site. In some cases, the translations are not working as they should due to data corruption or being affected by another plugin, we need to run the troubleshooting button to correct them.
You can run the buttons from the top to the bottom, in some cases, we only need to click one or two buttons depending on what the issue is. Please read more on the documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-troubleshooting-options/
I hope I was helpful. Don't hesitate to ask if you find any problem along the way, I'll gladly help you.
